Is that tube thing sending water straight into the other tube thing in the middle?

Mine was doing that and the tube that unloads the water was going directly into that middle tube, I unhooked it so it filled into the tank instead and that fixed the problem. Been four years and still good so I dont think I broke anything

edit: oh yeah it could also be the stopper at the bottom just isnt sealing properly anymore

Do you hear water filling the tank? You could need a new flapper if it's old.

It's the float. I have the same poop canoe. That grey screw next to the red screw, tighten it just a little bit till the sound goes off. It that doesn't work, you have to get a new sender unit. They are not very much. 15-30 bucks depending on which make you get. But if you are very careful, you can unscrew the float (the big ball) and either squeeze all the water out (they have a habit of getting small holes in the seams) or get a brand new one.

Also lift up your flapper, if it is all wrinkled like this, it's worn and you need a new one:

Get on that shit quickly. That will run up a water bill like you decided to supply a fucking water park using your meter for the month.

More commonly if its not the flapper posted above, it's the full valve not properly sealing completely once the correct level is reached

That sssssss is the water filling up the bowl. It means there's a leak in the flapper(the white thing of yours at the bottom of the tank). When the water level gets to a certain point, it causes the water to kick in and fill the bowl.

If you rent, call the landlord. If you own, go to Lowes/Home Depot, and buy a $15 kit to replace all of it. The big black floater in your pic is an old style. Get a newer one installed. Toilet stuff is a very simple fix.

This! I learned very quickly as a homeowner. Most toilets are very basic, 100+ year old technology and you don't need a lot of experience to repair one. They are very ingenious inventions but it all works on basic physics. Whenever I have a problem I just buy the Home Depot kit that has the fill valve and flapper in one upgrade kit. They are easy to install. Just get all the water out of the tank, unscrew the supply line, and get to work installing it.
