What is Game of the Month Club Replay?

Game of the Month Replay is a community project based upon the Game of the Month Club. Much like the GOTM Club, it's open to all B8ers where users share, discover, play and/or discuss a bonus chosen game every month. The three games featured each month are chosen by YOU the users (and Lady Luck).

The only catch is, it must be a game that the GOTM Club has already played, so it's an opportunity to replay games you may have missed out on the first time or just want to try again.

The Basics

- Each month will usually feature three games that were chosen via a random drawing from a pool of games that users nominated
- For each of the games you beat you get a cool point on our just-for-fun standings as well as a nomination for next month's randomized drawing
- In order to receive the point and nomination, you must beat said game within the calendar month
- If you beat one of the current month's games in the previous month, you can apply for a "recently beaten waiver," but you will only receive a point and no nomination should you do so
- Drawing for next month's game is usually on the 25th
- If you periodically keep us posted on your progress and/or talk about different aspects of the games, then everyone will think you are super awesome!

Nomination Rules

- You get one nomination automatically each month
- You receive additional nominations each month for beating one of the featured games
- Each game you nominate has to be one that was already nominated for the GOTM Club.
- You can nominate games that have already been selected for the Replay Topic, but not the same game twice in a row.
- Each game must be a standalone game that can be acquired and played on its own (aka cannot be DLC/expansion that requires the base game)
- Nominations only carry over if you beat a featured game after the drawing for next month's game but before the end of the month
- You have 9 supports you can use throughout the year. Your only limitations are that you can't support your own nomination, and you can only use one support per game per month

I actually did so within the first two hours of October in my time zone.

I might be getting a bit tired of moody indie platformers; Short Hike on the other hand was immediately disarming and I ended up spending 3x the time needed to actually beat it despite it being a replay.

Beat Inside.

Started Inside, probably like halfway through. This game is more intense than I expected, some of the deaths are brutal. All of the animations look really good too, there is a lot of depth for a 2D game.

I was going to pull, but the nominations are so anemic it's not even three games. I'm pull later today (the 26th) instead so everyone gets a bit more time.

Nominate Bug Tales

I lose a big chunk of Nov (and Dec...) to family stuff, so I don't want to nominate a bunch of stuff that gets picked and I don't have time to play. Especially taking into account the regular Club and playing my personal backlog games.

I would nominate SotN, but I know F.I.S.T. is a Metroidvania as well and that's one I haven't played, so I'm happy for that to get selected.

In that case we have a minimum number of entries, so the winners are The Wonderful 101, F.I.S.T: Forged in Shadow Torch and Bug Fables. Congratulations!

I'm actually tempted to play that one even though I held off nominating because of nanowrimo lol..

Cody has beaten Inside

Despite the abrupt ending, that was one of my favorite stories told without dialogue I've experienced. Fantastic atmosphere, and I felt unnerved or afraid for the player character a lot.

I'm in a similar boat where real life obligations and other games have eaten almost all of my free time, I didn't even get to Metroid this month and next month is gonna be just as busy for me.

Oh no, had I known that I would have a 100% nom success rate, I would have definitely made sure one was a shorter game. I'm probably not going to be able get around to one of them (I'm going to prioritize F.I.S.T.), but we'll see.
