I feel like watching some of these but would like some suggestions

Family Guy is great for the first 3 seasons, good for the next ~5 seasons, then it falls off a cliff.

So, you'd only recommend the first 8 seasons, but mainly just the first 3? How about American Dad?

Family Guy is great season 1-3, good season 4, falls off. Signs of life around season 9, actually good again for a couple of seasons from 11.

What about American Dad?

American Dad is pretty much consistently great until maybe the last few seasons, which arent as good but still worth watching

Yeah I've been making my way through the episodes worth watching, typically the parody ones since the rest of family guy doesn't really have much of a story or coherence.

That being said I stopped at the star wars one and got bored, thinking of skipping it and moving on since it seems to be a 1:1 parody and I dont like or care about star wars to be entertained by it like the got parody episode or Disney parody episode

But Famguy, i'd say like 7-9 through to 14-15. The clue murder mystery two-parter is like peak famguy for me

Why do you like the murder mystery episode so much? I was watching it too

Family Guy started great and slowly downgraded to good over time. Still perfectly watchable, just not the amazing show it once was.

American Dad is the reverse; it started off okay but got incredible over time. I think it's started to come down from its peak lately, but not by much.

Basically - older seasons for FG, newer seasons for AD.

Pretty much. Whenever the jump to TBS starts is the major decline season. Probably ten or so seasons of greatness then another tenish seasons of just being ok.

I'll also add, don't overlook The Cleveland Show either. It's not as good as either of the other two but it's still fairly good towards the end.

I've only seen a few episodes of AD but I hated them all. They felt like a worse Family Guy in every metric.

FG was great 1 - 3, I thought was okay 4 - 5, then just gets stupid weird. There are definitely moments, but overall it became an ADHD style comedy that I don't care for.
