No way I can build one myself. I'll say the budget is $1500 max for a new PC but it would be better to get one for cheaper. I can just wait until Black Friday for a new monitor if I get a computer now. Can't wait until then for the computer itself.

I would need a decent one but not necessarily a gaming computer since I know things like Alienware are ridiculously overpriced. No laptops either since my cat would probably knock it down somehow..

Have you given any thought into customized prebuilts, like from cyberpowerpc, NZXT, Build Redux, etc.? I bought my last three systems this way and have been very happy with them.

Its crazy that you have this much self-awareness when it come to computers, but none when it comes to everything else you post about.

For the most part, if you know how to put a game in an N64, you've got the skills you need to build a computer. It gets a little more nuanced than that, but not by as much as you might think, and there are plenty of youtube tutorials out there that can hold your hand through the whole process. It's intimidating at first glance, certainly, but it's actually simpler than most Lego sets. I'd recommend looking into some of those tutorials to see what the process actually looks like before writing it off as being too hard.
