Civil War sucks. The quest line itself is so far away from the immersion that the game sets up for it. Its still one of the few things in the game you can't fix with mods either, because the coding is so wonky nobody bothers to mess with it.

College of Winterhold is boring AF.

Companions is too short and forgettable.

Thieves Guild has a lot of problems. There's little thieving in the main quest, it's all in the radiant quests, which are pretty boring. All the characters are pretty much assholes to your character. And you have to sell your soul to a Daedra to advance. Fuck that man

Dawnguard / Vampires is fine I guess. I like appreciate that they at least tried to make the radiant quests somewhat interesting this time.

Dark Brotherhood is the only really good faction in the game. The characters are memorable, the story has a pretty gut wrenching twist, and I like Commander Maro as the antagonist. All of it could've been avoided if it weren't for Astridiot.

I see the Blades didn't even get a ranking. That's fine anyway since they're the worst faction. The only thing Delphine deserves is to be punted off the side of High Hrothgar after Season Undending through a well-timed Unrelenting Force shout.

My problem with Dawnguard is that most of the characters in those factions are relegated to the background once Serana arrives. Its basically just the Serena show, everyone besides her and her family felt underdeveloped

Skyrim is that kinda game where mods absolutely save it. Say what you want about Oblivion and its numerous problems but at least the guilds were still good and fun. Not sure why so many of the Skyrim guilds just sucked especially the College of Winterhold. That fucking sucked a lot.

im playing through it right now and the companions, thieves, mages were all disappointments compared to oblivion from what i remember

havent started anything with civil war yet

dark brotherhood is pretty ok

are there any easy to miss quests that i need to track down? after the two dlc's, main quest (about to go find elder scroll), daedric princes, and dark brotherhood are done idk what i am supposed to do. i feel like i havent stumbled onto a random quest in awhile and have been slowly clearing them out after having like 60 quests sitting around.

Well the College of Winterhold suffered from not only a lame main story but having most of its content left on the cutting room floor. So you're left with a half dozen people and the 'mysterious' railroading surrounding its questline.

That's probably why Bethesda allowed mod support in the Special Edition of Skyrim on consoles. They knew it's what allowed the game to become GOTY. They really need to remember that it was the fans that made them so successful.

Companions guild questline was meant to be bigger. There's cut content that appears to have expanded upon that Silver-weapon wielding bandits you have to kill.

I think you guys greatly overestimate how important mods are to Skyrim. Based on the available sales data, for instance, the median gamer played Skyrim on the Xbox 360.

Mods definitely helped prolong its cultural influence in terms of viral shit like Thomas the Tank Engine dragons, but in no way is the game unplayable without them. I played Skyrim on the Xbox as a teen and it was a great time with no mods.

Then there's the little phenomenon of 'modding enthusiasts' spending far more time curating mods and adjusting their load order than they do ever being immersed in the game.

Hell, despite fixing one or two bugs for SE Bethesda never did add Silver weapons to the proper tempering lists. If you could temper them Silver weapons would be fun and effective, given their low weight and bonus 20 points of damage to specific enemies.

Haven't people tried to recreate the civil war with mods? Even if it's just random spawned battles. I think initially it was supposed to be more strategic with maps and defending territories, but I may just be thinking of fan theories. That's at least more than the base game ever did besides their shitty canned battles. I think the general look/mood for Skyrim is good and the music is fantastic, but having such horrible guilds overall really got me upset. The Morrowind Mages Guild was actually quite mundane sometimes because early on you would just be picking ingredients but to go from what Oblivion did (which was really good) to Skyrim's is rather insulting.

I just ran in circles swinging daggers at movement until the game told me to stop.

Probably killed half my own squad but I was there for efficiency, not accuracy.

Skyrim was heavily focused and marketed for the console generation. But I did play Oblivion first on the PS3 because I don't think I had a computer I trusted could run it att he time and also I had gotten a PS3 pretty recently. Anyhow mods were certainly important still for Skyrim. Thomas the Tank engine dragons I mean c'mon why did Thomas the Tank engine ever become popular again? Plus ppl really loved their nudity mods but I guess that's nothing new. I guess what I am trying to say is that there were some amazing mods that were for Skyrim I never did try like Frostfall and combining that with realistic needs and diseases and random start beginning you could have a really cool survival styled game.

Stuff like that I feel like is worth mentioning more than Thomas the Tank engine :P There is also a voiced Randy Macho Man Savage audio mods for dragons too. Funny, but really. I am not going to actually install that.

That one Blades guy in Oblivion was cool, I forget his name. I know Oblivion had like five voice actors in the whole game, but that's the problem when you I guess ya have to voice every line of dialogue too. Look the Morrowind encyclopedia dispensaries NPCS were very unnatural, but still it did give more world building in ways. Granted no one in real life ever responds to "What is your job" with - I am a pauper, I do simple house hold jobs and things that may not be suited to the master.
