From: https://wrestlenomics.com/2023/09/13/aew-all-ins-turnstile-count-was-72265-according-to-local-government/
In response to a public records request about the attendance for AEW All In on August 27, the Freedom of Information office for the Brent Civic Centre responded today:

The actual numbers registered entering [Wembley] Stadium through the turnstiles was 72,265 this is reflective of what attended on the night and not the total number of tickets sold or no-shows etc.

AEW announced the paid attendance for the event was 81,035, and called it a new worldwide record for pro wrestling.
The final estimate from WrestleTix of tickets distributed for All In was 83,131.
Wrestlenomics was told by a source that a typical AEW event has a drop count (also known as a turnstile count) that is about 80% to 90% of the paid attendance or tickets distributed. In this case, 72,265 is 89% of 83,131.
The turnstile count for WWEs Wrestlemania 32 in 2016 in Arlington, Texas, was higher than All Ins number. The number of fans who entered the building for Wrestlemania 32 was 80,709, according to the Arlington Police, a number more than 8,000 higher than 72,265.

The turnstile count came out days after the fact because it would be impossible to count that and have it ready the night of the show. AEW announced the attendance number based on the number of tickets sold because that was the most reliable piece of information they had access to the night of. They said they sold over 81,000 tickets, and it's been 100% confirmed that they did exactly what they said they did. They made a claim that they believed was true based on the confirmed information that they had access to, and then some information came out after the fact and proved that the actual attendance was inaccurate to their claim. They didn't lie, they were simply proven incorrect after the fact. There's a difference.

This I agree with though. This is why you wait a while and really think about it before getting a tattoo.

Eh, so it wasnt the number they thought it was. Life goes on.

I still enjoy the product regardless.

Indeed. It's still a landmark show for them.

It's Dave Meltzer who comes off looking awful

I think the fact that "attendance-gate" and CM Punk's firing have dominated the immediate aftermath of the event are both signs of instability in an organization that had (mostly) risen steadily since its inception.

What is still their biggest gate ever (even with the actual numbers) would normally be a major coup but the whole thing has become a bit of a disaster publicly.

Yeah, no. That's not true at all. It doesn't take days to get that number. You can't predict it ahead of time. But you know the number of people that walked through the turnstiles the very day of the event. Attendance has been announced during the show of many events. Because you and the local authorities know the number of people there right on the spot. The headcount and totalling is almost immediate. This was just a deliberate lie, and if no one asked for the public record request, they would have continued to lie about it.

Thank goodness we're not on a pro wrestling board. This level of nitpicking would surely get accusations of trying to incite a flame war.
