I can admit that I mostly stopped following once Ray left save a special episode or two but I figured this was coming eventually especially with the Ryan Haywood controversy.

RIP never-ending Minecraft LPs.

I love the podcasts and some of the new stuff sounds fun.

Seems like everyone was just tired of doing AH stuff and wanted to do other things more.

They've been barely treading water for a while now. I used to watch them every day but with all the garbage that's happened in the last couple years, no thanks.

I remember really enjoying these in its infancy. I ended up just falling off entirely at some point. I vaguely recall dropping off at some point during the Halo Forge videos.

Rooster Teeth is just legitimately sad anymore every time I hear something about them. I used to be such a huge fan and supporter.

Yeah, the writing's been on the wall for a while now. It dropped off for me when Covid and lockdown started and they didn't pivot very well to the change in circumstances, then the stuff with Ryan pretty much finished it off and everyone I liked left to do something else. I only watch the Randomisers with Michael and Matt (who they fired last year) these days, so hopefully they continue doing those at least.

Rooster Teeth as a whole has kinda tanked generally these last few years. Everyone has pivoted to doing podcasts and most of their original stuff is paywalled on their website. Funhaus is still good though.

All the best with the new endeavour, but honestly Trevor and Alfredo are some of the blandest personalities they have.

Yeah when it was just the gents and lads they played very well off of each other.

All the newer people felt completely interchangeable.

I watched them for years. Longer than most. Some of the cast changes took some time to get used to, but in the end I liked (almost) all of them.

Biggest issue is the constant controversy. Ryan tainted years of fond memories. Hard to come back from that.

I watched about a minute and a half of it, and I gotta know what your definition of corporate is. Maybe you mean rehearsed?

Without wanting to go for direct attacks, Trevor and Alfredo really signalled the downfall of AH and Let's Play. Alfredo made them (he was hired for it, so it's nothing against him) pivot toward streaming, which I think was never AH's strong suit. It was especially egregious when you saw how huge their editing staff was but then 2 of the 10 streams they did in a week got edited.

Trevor then fully took them away from "friends playing video games" to "let's do a bit or a sketch in this gameplay video" which I think few people really watched the videos for. Then he was also management when Ryan got fired, who they never replaced properly as a personality in videos or as someone who found new games to play that were interesting.

It's sad as AH was just such a huge part of my youth, and it really petered out more than anything.

I imagine the authentic message would be Michael going "nobody wants to do achievement hunter videos anymore. We are all bored of it, especially me. Half the group already moved on to other things and now the rest of us want to do what we actually have some passion for. We know if we tried to do it on the AH channel everyone would be pissed so we are just ending AH and starting a new channel."

I listen to F**k Face and Face Jam every week. I'll occasionally listen to an episode of Off Topic or Black Box Down. So the podcast content is definitely relevant and has value to me.

As far as the personalities themselves changing, I guess I've been more forgiving in that regard. Losing Ray and Jeremy were both big hits, but then I just started watching them over on twitch so that was all right. That's too much streaming to watch absolutely everything, but just going through their VODs and cherry picking ones that seem more relevant to me has been a pretty good way to keep them in the rotation without seeing them every day. You can throw Matt in this list as well, but he honestly seemed to show up just as much in AH content after being "fired" as he did before. That felt more like a restructure into a freelancer position than an outright firing? Regardless his own streaming pursuits seem to be doing just fine and I don't mind tuning in to watch his Pokemon Stadium Rental Randomizers.

But with all that said I have liked many of the new faces as well. I think i've been on board with Alfredo since day 1. Trevor took some warming up, and while he's not as overtly funny as some of the others he has definitely shown that his approach adds value. He's a guy who understands the assignment and will make choices while playing the game to make the end result more interesting to watch. Joe and BK only got added a little over a year and a half ago, but I thought they both slotted in nicely.

It's just rough knowing that there's really no cast that is going to come close to recreating what felt so special about early AH, and that even if you had the same OG cast come back together it wouldn't be the same. They're all different now and the type and volume of content that they are more inclined to make is different too. We had a good long moment with them as they were, but a moment is not sustainable forever.

I'll be trying out the new thing to see how it sits, and I'll keep listening to the RT podcasts that I still enjoy and we'll see how it goes from there.

I listen to F**kface, Face Jam, Off Topic, Always Open, Red Web, Stinky Dragon, and RTP every week lol. And am catching up on ANMA. So yeah RT is still providing me a ton of content just with podcasts.

I'll be adding Gus's We Didint Start the Fire podcast whenever that comes out along with some So...Alright as well.

Yeah his position got cut by corporate so they just hired him as a freelancer because noone actually wanted him to go.

I liked Minecraft LP a decade ago, the GTAV heists before heists were added werefun, and I liked GO from like a decade ago. The content changed and it just didnt click with me anymore

With Smosh also trying to revitalize a dying sketch comedy channel it just feels like everyone wants to recapture early youtube era.

I wish them luck

Oh yeah I guess I'm into So... Alright since Geoff started that one. And I know I should probably be into ANMA, since it seems to relate heavily to early days rooster teeth stuff, but I try to be careful about adding new ones, I hate the feeling of falling behind.

I was a pretty big AH watcher from 2012-ish to like 2018-2019-ish I think? I didn't really mind any of the new people, they each had their own fun things they brought to the dynamics. Although of course the OG gang was lightning in a bottle pretty much, but I'm kind of fine with how everyone moved on. It was a moment in time, and they did a good job with that moment. The Ryan stuff was absolutely heartbreaking though, what a fuck.

I never watched Ray as a streamer. In general I get that streaming seems to be where the money is at but the format as far as something to watch doesn't appeal to me at all, and a lot of these people worked better playing off each other than as individual acts.

I didn't follow a lot of Geoff's offscreen drama, either. Basically Ray left then I left shortly after.

Yea I'm not really a Twitch/streaming watcher in general, Youtube/Let's Play watching at my leisure is much more my preferred means of watching game stuff, I've accepted my old-headedness lol. Streaming is cool but I just can't get myself to sit in a chat with others live watching someone, watching VOD's on youtube of some streams after is really the closest I can get myself to reliably do.

The only streamers I watch are the ones who cut up their 14 hour streams into 25 minute youtube vids. That seems like the best of both worlds.

For me, streams die once they get too big. It's really nice to be part of a small community of around 100-150 people, chatting with each other and the streamer about the game or other shit. Once it gets too big, I really need to be into the game to enjoy it, and even then.
