Why do people want some one off jobber like Geno over a half genie hero like Shantae?

Geno would be OP because he can oneshot anyone with Geno Whirl.

There were people that actually wanted Waluigi and Bandana Waddle Dee.

I stopped playing after Brawl, isn't there like a 300 character roster now after a ton of dlc? And Toad isn't one of them??? Wtf

Toad:
-Has been an important part of the core Mario cast since the beginning.
-Playable in multiple mainline games, going all the way back to Super Mario Bros. 2/USA.
-Has his own starring roles in Wario's Woods and Captain Toad's Treasure Tracker.
-Consistently playable in Mario spinoffs.

Geno:
-Only appeared in one game and its remake.
-Had a small cameo in the first Mario & Luigi game on the GBA that was removed from its remake.
-Square didn't even deem it necessary to include him (or other SMRPG characters) in the Mario crossover titles that they developed through the mid-2000's up to Fortune Street on the Wii.

Because nobody would even want Shantae if WayForward didn't keep putting out fake hints about her getting into Smash.

Waluigi in Smash gives you enough flexibility to create whatever sort of wacky character you want, which I can totally see the appeal for even if it was a little meme-y.

Oh don't get me wrong, I get the appeal and it would be cool. I just think people took it way too far by harassing Sakurai over it.

I still want him, though with the paradigm shift with the anime, I feel like his time has passed.

Until then, he was the most prominent Pokemon in the anime after Pikachu, and absolutely justified a spot in Smash's roster (along with Toad, Dixie Kong, Bandana Waddle Dee, and arguably Lyn and Tingle).

When they do the next Smash they should start over with the roster and decide it from scratch. Toad would be an easy inclusion being one of the most well-known Mario characters.

Yeah, at this point there's no way he'd make it. From what I've heard the only reason why they've never dropped Jigglypuff from the roster is because they're part of the original 12 fighters from Smash 64.
