Some people in the neighborhood group chat started sending messages about a guy in a red shirt walking into the neighborhood. I did my normal thing and got my drone out to find him.

I put a battery in, turned my drone on, opened my garage door, and put my drone on the driveway so it could get enough of a GPS signal to take off.

Someone from the neighborhood was driving around and following him. He parked in front of my house. I didn't put 2 and 2 together at that moment. I was about to make the drone start flying, and the guy walked out of the alley just to my left and went the other way.

I quietly said, "Oh shit," grabbed my drone, and closed my garage door. I went to the back yard to launch it instead and got some scrappy pictures of him.

I'm fortunate that he walked away from me when he left the alley. He didn't see me at all, somehow.

He was apparently butt naked in the alley and using my neighbor's water to wash his body.

Why is everyone stalking and harassing this homeless guy?

Take him into your home, wash his feet and offer him bread and fish.

He deserves a place to dwell for the night.

Meanwhile in my neighborhood, I don't know anyone's names and if I saw a man walking down the street I wouldn't care and go back to sleep. Couldn't imagine living like TC.

I take pictures of any suspicious activity in the neighborhood if I see it. I didn't know he was homeless until afterward.

That's great. I know some of my neighbors and we watch out for each other through various methods.

Are there a lot of break-ins or something? I can see being on the ready if there are regular crime sprees.

It just seems foreign to me that multiple people would react like this.

Here and there. I've lived here for about 2.5 years and most of the incidents have been people trying to get into unlocked cars at night. I chased someone who stole some patio furniture in broad daylight out of the neighborhood with my drone once. I got a picture of his license plate and gave it to the police.

Either last week of the week before, a couple got kidnapped in the next neighborhood over from me, but I don't have many more details about that incident other than the fact that the couple was found the best day and the police arrested at least two of the perpetrators.

Not worried that some will notice you have money by flying a drone around and just break into your house one night instead?

The goal, typically, is to fly my drone around without them seeing me, so they'd never know who owned it. It wouldn't have worked out in this case, though, since he was literally in the the other side of the wall, but oh well.

You never really know if it's concerning until something actually happens. I wasnt doing anything but watching One Piece at the time, so I figured I'd so that instead. We normally don't have people walking into the neighborhood like that since we're not extremely close to much.

We're in the city, but you generally need a car to get to places efficiently from our neighborhood.

Poor guy. I see homeless people every night I take out my trash because they walk around the neighborhood looking for cans. Most homeless just want to be left alone 99% of the time.

While this is true, the neighborhood being alerted and up at midnight on a Monday morning, tailing and droning because a stranger is walking down the street, is honestly sad to me. I mean if crime is a problem why not call the cops and have him checked out. They don't have shit to do at that hour. Then you all could get some sleep for work Monday.

He wasn't just walking down the street. The cops were called. It typically takes them a while to get to our neighborhood, though.

It's actually because police are understaffed, our neighborhood is on the far south side of town, and there is a single entrance/exit to the place with a single one way access road to get here. The police were called because he rang someone's doorbell.

Do the rest of y'all not live in a neighborhood with a neighborhood watch? We look out for one another. There usually aren't strangers walking around the area as it's somewhat way out of the way and not an easy or common passthrough. And we don't hassle strangers if they are just out walking, but you definitely keep an eye out.

It's not that he was just existing in the vicinity. He's a stranger who rang someone's doorbell at almost midnight. Not sure how many times this will need to be stated, but it would help move the conversation along if people actually read.

• I didn't know he was homeless until after the fact.
• The cops were called by someone in the neighborhood because he's a stranger ringing their doorbell at 11:40pm. That doesnt make them bad people.
