So until the last 5 minutes that was in the running for one of the worst console showcases that has ever been released.

But yeah they hit me pretty good at the end there.

I think the "End of Disc 1" will be the same as the original

FF7 was great. Means I actually need to purchase a PS5 now!

I was guessing we were ending at the first visit to the Northern Crater, but Weapons mean we might be going past that (or we see them before they pop out in the original version)

Sony has had way worse State of Plays than this one.

At the point in time where they had just finished up Helldivers 2's embarrasing showing and the timer made it look like they were ending on Spiderman, no they had not.

But then it ran long.

PS5 has been worth purchasing since day 1 for the upgrade in PS4 game loading times alone.

Baby Steps was a rough start to this, but ending on Spider-Man 2 and 7R2 was a good choice

Yeah this isn't even close to one of the worst ones.

This at least had a lot of RE4 DLC, more Spider-Man 2 stuff we didn't know about, and then tons of hype FF7R-2 stuff.

Definitely not anywhere near the worst.

It's on 2 discs but we're not actually switching discs while reaching story beats?

So end of disc 1 wouldn't lead to disc swaps?

Playing the zero disk version so if they've got some banger swap point in mind it's gonna be lost on me.

Also yeah the implication I got was you'd be installing the 2 disks up front, not actually swapping.

I would love it if in 5-8 years they release a version that has the trilogy and expansions all rolled into one complete edition.

Looking forward to more info about the Arise expansion.

Little dissapointed that it's not a full new game, but maybe they have another team working on that.

yeah for a second I thought it could be Arise 2, but a 25 hour expansion is just fine with me, and probably my favorite flavor of DLC

Arise going the Xenoblade route with a mini campaign that tests out ideas for future games and sands off the edges of the base game's systems could be just what that game needs.

Supposedly the Scarlet Nexus director is heading up the team for the next game. If true, I already feel significantly better about that than what Arise ended up being.

I....did not enjoy anything from what little I played of Scarlet Nexus at all, so I'd feel the opposite.

But time will tell.

Yeah, I think I prefer Arise to Scarlet Nexus overall. As a single player action game the combat in SN was more fun, but I wouldn't want Tales to become that. Both had pretty bad scenarios, with SN being anime nonsense the entire time and Arise starting great but crashing and burning extremely hard.

Best thing about the SW trailer is that it looks like I thought, and every setpiece that was missing from the remake has been moved to SW and everything is here after all.

Wasn't Scarlet Nexus made by the second Tales team in the first place?

SN had way better combat than Arise but everything else was a mess. I didn't even really like Arise but it was better than SN.

Pretty much all the narrative I remember about SN was how the terrible anime that came out alongside it spoiled the games biggest twist in the first episode, lol.

I've always been under the impression that it was all former Tales staff, including the director who has now apparently been brought back in.

Question about the Rebirth trailer: is it spoilery for someone who has never played FFVIIR (or the original for that matter), but plans to soon?

Gotta make my PS Plus Extra subscription matter while I have it.

Yeah it definitely shows some stuff that you're probably better off not seeing... would recommend putting that on hold until you've played original & 7R (and I always recommend playing original before 7R tbh!!)

Been thinking about it! They seem like different enough experiences that I'm sure it would be fine. Thanks for the heads up!
