Very much so.

My philosophy is "if it's a normal delicacy for various cultures around the world then I'll give it a try".

I get iffy on insect-related dishes, however. There's also this Chinese (I think) street food that is a fertilized egg and a mostly formed chick fetus is inside the egg...no thanks. Even when people eat veal it's slices of the animal and not a like whole dead calf carcass on your plate.

I was like "pizza on ranch is gross!" for a long time, because I didn't like ranch when I'd tried dipping carrot sticks in ranch. Then, a friend was told me not to knock until I tried it, so I tried it. I ended up liking ranch on pizza.

I had a friend who'd mix hot sauce and ranch and dip it in that. It's not that bad at all.

Anyway, I'll eat almost anything once. And most of the time I'll enjoy something. Food is really a wonderful thing.

It's weird. It feels like it shouldn't be good, but it is.

That being said, I don't waste proper pizza by dipping it in ranch.

I've dipped cheap frozen pizzas in ranch at home. I've never dipped pizza that I ordered for myself in ranch.

Yes, thank you for knowing the name of it.

I only know about it through one of those threads shitting on British food, someone brought it up and another explained that it was Chinese street food that you can buy in British "Chinatowns", if that's what they're called over there.

What? I'm not sauce fan at all and I definitely don't consider being open-minded to new foods to be centralized around sauces.

But I mean sauces like Tabasco, Soy and Worcestershire, not like marsala on chicken marsala.

Yeah really masticating is building a bridge where there is none. The question is not in any way suggesting that being open minded should be tied to accepting sauces only.

Balut is Filipino (but few of my Filipino friends and in-laws eat it).

I don't enjoy ranch on anything. Mostly because I don't like ranch, the flavour is too strong and I can't taste the other food.

Sure, but you can get it in many countries.

I lived in the UK for 35 years and grew up with many friends of Chinese heritage. Never saw balut available over there.

Ah, well I appreciate that. Like I said, it's just what I saw posted in one of those British food bashing threads. It's on me for not properly vetting the info.
