Hopefully the media is finally ready to #MeToo this guy. I remember when his last film came out, there was a rather substantial backlash among various women in the French film industry to the film's otherwise positive reception.

First of all, this guy's abuse history has overshadowed Rosemary's Baby 20x over so who the hell is still content to associate their name to this fuck?

When pedophilia allegations for the late Claude Jutra surfaced a few years back, Canada went on a mad spree of renaming roads and festivals and shit to wipe his name off the map (literally). Polanski needs to be similarly treated as a pariah.

Like if it was a figure like Spielberg or Lucas or Scorsese I'd still find defending him utterly repulsive but I could at least wrap my brain around the "they've made some of the most influential works of art of the 20th century so I feel obligated to defend him"

But Polanski has never made anything worth a damn. Rosemary's Baby blows, The Omen is better.

Director who made Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby. Wife was killed by the Manson Family. Later raped an underrage girl, and fled the country before sentencing and kept making movies overseas.

Hollywood protecting this guy for so long has always been a massive black spot on the industry.

The petition was made by Harvey Weinstein. I wonder if at least some of the signatures are because of the influence guys like Weinstein had and you could get your career shot down if you crossed them. Either way, a horrible working environment in Hollywood. Hopefully it's gotten better after MeToo and crooks like Weinstein going down.
