I didn't watch HIMYF cuz it looked like poo but the Great was legitimately one of the best comedies airing right now smh. It could have gotten one final season to really send it off.

For anyone that cares tho apparently the planned father in HIMYF (from a disgruntled ex-writer) was the kid from Life of Pi

I actually liked How I Met Your Father...eventually

My wife and I finished the show a week ago and I literally said out loud to her I can't imagine this show lasting

There were some funny moments but overall it was just a really goofy comedy. I think maybe because they were trying hard to capture the goofiness of sitcoms. I'm on a rewatch of HIMYM and even the original show wasn't as goofy as HIMYF is

Damn for real? They were really trying to throw a swerve from the first episode. I wonder how many seasons they thought they'd have to tell that story lol

HIMYF felt like a combination of HIMYM and Young & Hungry, so it's not like there was a lot of potential for greatness but I didn't hate watching it. Show peaked with that Lizzie McGuire flashback though.

I like that Mexican lite version of Atlanta and Dave. Some relatable moments growing up Latino lol

I really enjoyed HIMYF :/ Second season was leagues better and everyone had hit their stride.

They should have done How I Met Your Uncle instead. Uncles are always at least 53% more amusing than fathers.

I loved the Great and it's cancelation is disappointing, but the show was nearly unwatched. The Nielson model for streaming is still new and developing so I don't put 100% confidence in it but the results it's showing is that most shows on streaming services do worse-than-CW numbers, The Great included.

That's not great for an expensive period piece show. Especially when there is a lot of belt tightening going on at these services as of late.

It's probably not that black and white as most streaming services have additional metrics beyond simply viewership numbers that they make decisions on...but effectively yes.

It wasn't performing in the metrics they wanted relative to the cost.

Yep, that's probably why it is cancelled lol. But making it 3 seasons in complete obscurity is better than some shows get!

Friends, HIMYM, Seinfeld, IASIP off the top of my head all had rather weak first seasons and yet they eventually find their groove after that

And that's when shows were getting 24 episode seasons

Now you'll get sitcoms with 10 episode premiere seasons and they get canned because streaming services won't stick with them.

Like imagine if something like Parks and Rec or The Office aired today. They'd have never made it past the first couple episodes.

Now it's time for how I met my step sister

I tried to watch How I Met Your Father and legit could only watch the first five minutes of it by being turned off by how annoying it was.

As I recall, the mother / Hilary Duff's character, was heading somewhere and called a Lyft driver are similar. When she got in, the driver had his friend in the car and they started talking about how his friend was about to get married.

That's it, stopped it right there. To me, a Lyft driver having their friend in the car while working was absurd right from the get go. Not only that, but once she hopped into the car they started talking as though everyone had been friends for years, though they had only met that very minute.

It was obvious to me that the friend's relationship wasn't going to work out, and he and probably the driver would both become a love interest for the mother. It was all so...dumb and predictable... that I couldn't keep watching.

That's really disappointing as the second season of how I met your father was actually pretty good

Seriously, the demands of the streaming networks make it so that the majority of the shows are doomed to fail, this setup is on the verge of just destroying the majority of TV really.

Many are demanding that it has to be perfect from the first second, or the first page for books and its really ruining everything because even the legends would not hold up to this kind of demands today.

Also bummer Ted never showed up on the show.

Father was definitely improving in the second season. Felt like they started to figure shit out.

So bummed about The Great

I really hope The Great wasn't cancelled out of a misguided attempt over the war in Ukraine.

I seriously doubt an uneven first season doomed Father. I'm not the biggest fan of Mother, but I doubt there was any wishes for a spin off considering the series finale pissed viewers off and ruined the mystique of Tracy in the season 8 finale and that last season.
