Absolutely ridiculous.

Sony fucking sucks so bad with this shit. A $20 jump without offering anything of worth. Just tough shit. They want to charge Game Pass prices when Game Pass is leagues ahead of them in what they offer.

I never subscribe anyway, but I wonder what just buying 1 month will be. I do that every now and then if there are some games added I wanna play.

Saints Row as the headliner game!

They need a lower tier that's just fucking online play. Make it $40 a year for just online and no useless junk games they constantly give. You get good ones once in a while but mostly, no.

I might have to be out with this.

I have the most basic plan, but have not been interested in any of the free games they've had in quite a while. I was keeping it for a long time so I could play Dead By Daylight online, but I hardly play that anymore anyway

And I think my sub ends in October, so this might be a good time to dip

Yea, the only online game I play these days is Fall Guys, and that doesn't even need a PS+ subscription. So I'll likely be out once mine expires as well.

Last I had was Nintendo so I could play sword online. Got my fill of that and didn't renew. Had planned to for scarvio, but then those ended up being shit so I didn't care.

Haven't had PS+ for years

This. I mean, what have gamers expected? Making games costs money. Making great games costs even more money. The costs for making games isn't going down just by changing the pricing model from single purchases to subscription services.

As long as I have a choice, I'll never subscribe to gaming subscription services (except the minimum fee that's necessary to play online). I'll always rather buy games singly. By that, I reward publishers and studios directly. I pay more that way compared to the subscription fee, but I decide who's getting my money. From an economical point of view, it's much more sustainable.

so glad i jumped to game pass when you could stack gold subscriptions and convert for $1. I got 3 years of game pass ultimate for like $120, then another 6 months with microsoft rewards points when they were giving 3 month codes for 1 month rewards. 3 and a half years for roughly $120. If i was to buy that now at the base value, id be looking at over $600

Budget-wise

Avg new video game by 2025 = appx $70-$80
# of big title releases likely per year = 2-4
Mid-tier Subscription cost = $100 appx
PS+ Premium = $160 or $13 in cost per month
Avg video streaming service per month = $16/month

Shit was inevitable but what can you do really. Either get a sub or don't buy games at full price.

You're part of the problem then. Or why do you think, Microsoft hasn't released countless of great games like Nintendo and Sony have done during the last 7-8 years? It's because they can't / don't want to invest more money, because otherwise they couldn't sell Game Pass for that cheap. That's their business plan.

I don't condemn anyone who falls for it. I just say, that people should be aware that they reap what they sow.

I happily pay $70 for games when they're great, because they're worth it then. And because I want the studios and publishers to profit enough, so that they can make more games to my liking.

I'd buy GamePass more often if Microsoft was more open when games are going to be kicked off. Right now, you only get a 14 day warning which makes playing long games on GamePass a really risky proposition unless you have no life and play games all day.

I'm not particularly thrilled with it but it's hard to imagine anybody actually dropping it over this if it's something they already use and still enjoy.

A ton of the reactions I've seen to this come across like they're from people that already weren't subscribed or never even have. Or don't even have a PlayStation.

Like "imagine paying 80$ for a saints row reboot" or whatever. Well, since that's for the year it'd be that game and every other monthly game that was free with plus that year. And obtained in previous years. Not to mention online play.

If no good or believable reason is given for the price hike it's shitty, but maybe reign it in with how much it's actually going to impact you or anyone else that is an active subscriber or potential one.

Oh, also, I don't know how much the monthly sub is increasing specifically but just wanted to point out that "increase of 20$" works out to be a whopping 1.66$ more per month.

Most people on the cheapest tier aren't paying for it for the free games. They're paying for it to be able to play a fucking game online.

A 33% increase just to play online is absurd.
