Alcoholism + genuine appreciation for the beer really throws rational thinking out the window. I had a little unofficial beer aficionados club and I think we all liked the thrill of the hunt and clout chasing from acquiring these special, sometimes seemingly sacred beers more than drinking them. There were a couple of legitimately mind blowing experiences though.
