Noooo, they're the only theater in my part of town.

Their annual bucket is also an amazing deal as is their A list membership.

I don't think AMC as a business is really suffering as much as the stock market price indicates. It was like, 25 a share pre-pandemic. Idk how much they diluted the stock, but two bucks a share seems like a steal to me (at a glance).

I don't own any right now, but I did make a fair chunk of money from buying a bunch of AMC stock after the vaccines became available. I figured people would want to go back to doing the things they did pre-pandemic and it paid off.

Remember after GME when it skyrocketed from like $8 per share to $75 or something in like a week.

Also, there's no chance AMC goes bankrupt. They are responsible for 36% of all revenue for films in the US. If they ceased to exist, Hollywood would cease to exist.

"They're" dumb as shit then. AMC's APE shares are being converted to common shares and then they're doing a reverse split so they can offer more shares for sale. It's just dilution.

Fundamentals of the company had little to nothing to do with how the stock was moving. It was all based around dark pools and leverage.

I made $10000 selling shares at $60 but I didn't sell everything and I'm kinda sore about it tbh. I'm not losing money on AMC, even at $0 I already made my profit, but I'm making way less than I could have.

I love following the meme stocks dialogues too. It's a literal qanon-like apocalyptic cult with shadowy enemies, hagiographic admiration of random twitter people, a dogmatic ethos entirely based on so-called "DD's" (misinterpretations of vaguely-related investopedia articles), and an impending doomsday involving reckonings for the non-believers and a corresponding reward for believers. And it's all centered around near-bankrupt companies that a lonely guy in his 20s would remember shopping at in his childhood.

I thought dvd, not streaming, did?

I seem to recall reading that netflix started out as a "mail delivery dvd company" (since DVD were light enough to be sent by mail), and that put physical stores out of business.

The r/amcstock apes might be super delusional as to how much AMC is really worth but they're not really wrong about dark pool abuses and the SEC doing fuck all about it.

This is all just shit Bernie Sanders has been saying for 50 years though. It's not news, it's just more visible to people.

So is it going to go higher or lower during that time? If people are holding based on the fundamentals and a resolution of the strike, why not buy now then?

I'm no expert but if I'm basing it solely on the heath of the cinema the resolution of the strike isn't going to be where the upturn is. There's still Barbie at the moment and we haven't seen the impact for movies yet. Cinemas are going to be at their lowest point next year or the year after.

I suppose you can hold and wait for 5-10 years and maybe you'll be okay? That's probably what you should be planning with investments anyway instead of trying to time the market unless you're an expert who does this every day.

Of course that's also if you believe the cinema industry will be a lot healthier by then.

AMC had the most optimistic look and it still tanked.

Fwiw they broke even on their last earnings. Everyone else is still losing money.

Cinema is dead. Hollywood is dead. Long live family guy cutaways.

1. It's $2 a share.
2. I believe in the movie theater experience and have for a while. Barbie and Oppenheimer made big bucks. Blue Beetle got a showing. Mario did great. People are already tired of samey streaming experiences from Disney+ and Netflix, they want big events. It might not be the perfect time to get in, but I hope in 10 years people will still be excited to go out to the he movies.
