Nothing to get overly excited about as this could be years away from being approved but we could have an actual cure to 70 different types of cancer within our lifetimes.

AN ACTUAL CURE FOR CANCER!

This is incredible. Mind blowing, really.

The drug is called AOH1996, it was named after a girl who passed away in 2005 due to cancer. She was born in 1996.

So just keep that in mind.

That being said. THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!

Sounds like it doesnt damage healthy cells either. So this could actually replace chemo fully maybe? The article says its meant to be used only when existing treatments will fail, but maybe after clinical trials that will change.

I don't know shit about cancer. I was under the impression that an overall cure for cancer was borderline impossible because all cancers act differently. Was i understanding that wrong or something?

They announced this almost a year ago. Any updates?

Hate to break it to people. They're never going to cure cancer. They're never going to cure Alzheimer's. As much as I wish they would, as someone who lost his parents to both of these diseases, it's just not possible. It's just how people die.

Yes a one cure all for cancer is impossible at this point. The best we could do at the moment is personalized to an individual with cell therapy.

Clinical trials take a long time. They started up around October of last year. Like I said earlier in this topic, we're looking at years before this is approved by the FDA. But the fact that it's working so well in previous tests is a positive!

HIV has been treatable for awhile hasn't it? An all out cure seems to be new though and would be great news.

They've had things that suppress the symptoms before yeah, but this one actually destroys all trace of the virus in the body. It's (allegedly) one and done.

It would be because they could charge the wealthy 5-50m for an actual cure for cancer while insurance companies and hospitals bill everybody else for treatments as we slowly pass away.

Sure, he's wrong. Right now it's not an advancement at all. It's a preclinical idea covered only by rag news outlets.

I want nothing more than for this time to be different but I gotta be real at this stage.
