Kind of?

I'm a week into a dry month, kind of on a whim. Havent had trouble moderating lately or anything, just felt like losing some weight.

A while back though i took about 18 months off after my drinking got kind of unhealthy

Even 1-2 drinks a day turns into bloat and poor sleep for me

I probably did a number on my liver in my 20s tho

Dont speak for everyone.
I dont drink. I dont smoke. I eat a varied diet. I dont eat sweets. Im not a snacker. I game maybe 2hrs a session which is once every 3 or 4 days. I binge whole shows when a good one is out. So I cant say I must watch a show the day it is released. I wait until all episodes are out.

I cant name a vice I couldnt live without tbh.

The again, its easy to abstain when you work full time, have 4 kids, in school full time and in the Reserves.

I dont have much time to indulge in any one thing. When I graduate, I might get alcohol poisoning though lol.

I'm one of those people who just doesn't really get addicted to anything. I drink, but only on weekends. I have pop, but only once a week. I've had painkillers like vicodin for a few surgeries, and had no problem stopping once the prescribed dosage was done. I have candy, but, again, only on weekends. Etc. and so on. And I've found myself able to stop any of these on a whim, such as when I had high blood pressure for awhile and needed to cut back on a few things while my doctor figured out the cause (it was stress).

That said, I have seen numerous people struggle with addictions, personally, and it just makes me more thankful for my ability to just... Stop. So I completely respect the struggle, and I just wanted to wish all the best.

I don't care how you describe it. We aren't perfect and something that you do has addiction involved whether you realize it or not. It can even be porn or food or internet scrolling.

You may not know what it is but it's definitely there.

No no no. You MUST be addicted to something to make the addicts feel better about themselves.

That said, this rhetoric is also fairly bad. Yes, it's true not everybody has an addiction, but "To make addicts feel better about themselves" rhetoric is also harmful. I get you're being flippant due to the replies you received, but both sides need to be more understanding.

I am understanding of addictions. Im NOT understanding why that poster wants to push addictions on people. My guess is that its easier to cope when you think everyone has the same problem.

For everything I said, though, it also tells me that addiction isn't just some like, mental thing, where somebody can tell you "Just stop, just be strong, etc.," because... I openly admit I'm not the most mentally strong of people. I cry easily, I mentally struggle over making decisions for longer than I probably should, and so on. So if it was just a case of "You're not being strong," then I would be addicted to so many things.

I'm not trying to brag or anything, and I apologize if it came off that way. I'm mainly trying to share my own experiences in order to say... There is no one size fits all answer, everybody deals with everything differently. All we can do is support each other.

I understand that, I wasn't trying to attack you. I was just mainly replying to both saying... People as a whole need to stop fighting amongst each other. It's easy to lash out when you think somebody doesn't understand you, but in all probability, they might understand you more than you think, and the way we word things or get defensive is just what gets in the way.
