I was explicitly told to NOT drink or eat ANYTHING from midnight last night. That was almost 10 hours ago now. I am cranky lol.

I used to be terrified of surgery but had to go under the knife a couple of months ago and my concerns were almost entirely unfounded.

You'll do great and everything will go well.

As someone who has had a few surgeries it's not so bad. I assume you have followed all the pre surgery stuff like not eating or drinking right?

Just try to stay calm, it's best not to focus on the negatives. In all likelihood it's going to go 100% fine and you should be focusing on what happens afterwards. Just also know that some people have a rough time when they wake up in recovery from all the pain meds and what not.

I'm rooting for you man, I'll say a prayer for you, you got this.

I had like four pistachios 7 hours ago without realizing what I was doing. I didn't finish the bag, but I'm still quite worried that is what will hoist me by my petard. No other beverage or food. I may be okay.

More worried about the fact that I was told I had to be on methimazole 3 weeks after I should have started taking it.

Like goddamnit, doctors.

No need. There is something very wrong with my hormones.

Mood swings
Shaking hands
Occasional rregular heartbeat
Grave's Disease (diagnosed by epidemiologist)
And the only reason I can sleep as well as I do is because I have MS that gives me the worst fatigue.

Yeah, I need to get something done with the thyroid.

It's probably fine in all likelihood, just make sure to tell the doctors. Make sure to tell them what you ate and when. The reason you're not supposed to eat anything is because the anesthesia can cause nausea and vomiting which is not good when you're asleep. A few pistachios hours beforehand however isn't exactly likely to cause any issues though.

Maybe ask the doctors about the medication too, ask them if it'll have any negative impact on how you'll feel after surgery or the surgery itself. Did you end up taking the medicine by now or not?

I always have a strong urge to pee after surgeries, even if I didn't drink anything before for hours. It's because you get hydrated by the infusions.

Other than that, I love it when the anesthetics kick in lol ^^ It's always interesting to see the professionals, who I usually advise how to bill their services correctly (I work for a hospital as a tariff specialist), at work.

Don't worry, you won't be feeling a thing. Good luck!

Surgery went off without a hitch! Only a sore throat from the breathing tube. No nausea, no hoarse voice, not a thing!

But it took them two more hours to get my things after I woke up. But I came prepared!

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/2/2/0/AACjiOAAEwvc.jpg

And I've been bad. Been disconnecting the heart rate attachment so I can whack off without the nurse that's coming to see me freaking out over the elevated heart rate.

Or maybe I DO want the nurse to come hehe

I think I finally have earned my CE merit badge.

All of the surgeries I went through I was unconscious and even if they messed up and killed me (not reasonable for the surgeries, but hey, shit happens) it's not likely I would have realized it, because I'd be dead.

So cheer up, either you live or die, these are your only outcomes.

Yeah, I need to get something done with the thyroid.

I accidentally checked into a mental hospital when I thought I was having thyroid issues.
Felt like hormone balance was completely out of control
I genuinely felt like I was losing my mind.

I was taking thyroid medication at the time, so I thought that was causing it, it was actually a blood pressure medication, Lisinopril.
just be chance, I ran out of my blood pressure med and immediately started feeling better.

Well one of its duties is to regulate your metabolism, so regardless of what you had before, that's compromised now, so keep that in mind for future diet decisions.

Didn't seem to bug them until I had it on and it started beeping because of the spikes to 125bpm+.

That was what was appearing to alert her to open the door, lol. She probably knew what I was up to. She saw the damn phone in my hand. But CLEARLY I was just texting too much.

Already recovering quickly, and because I'm not getting an answer on why my diet is compromised, I will continue to eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch TYVM.

I was prescribed to take calcium and vitD supplements, anyway. Needs that milk. And I already have to take 4000iu of vitD every day because I have multiple sclerosis and am a waste of bones and organs :-(

Something that literally regulated your metabolism is now missing. I'm not going to pretend I understand the exact medical ramifications of it, but obviously it's not going to do you any favors missing something like that (unless you had a thyroid disorder that led to obesity, something that regulates with negative consequences could be beneficial to lose).

Is it normal to feel a bit empty? Violated is too strong a word. But I can definitely feel like something is missing.

It isn't numbness or tingling, though. I just feel....different

Well, the hypocalcaemia is fucking throwing me for a goddamn loop. I honest to God thought I was experiencing a new MS flare-up because the pins and needles in the hands, feet and face were so bad.

And I have an abcessed tooth swelling my cheek, so I am now waiting at a clinic to get some antibiotics.

I am living a nightmare for at least a few more days.

I tried to get some gaming in to distract me from it, but one of the other symptoms of hypocalcaemia is hand cramping.

Your hands want to curl in on you REALLY bad, and it makes it difficult to play well like that, lol.

I do have the meds for it, but this doctor visit can't come soon enough!

Hypocalcaemia sucks guys. Like it really does.

Feeling real anxious randomly with sweating palms.
Numbness and tingling of hands, feet, even face/lips/mouth
Can get really dizzy/nauseous/might pass out, even when sitting

How long after the thyroidectomy should these symptoms last before I head back to hospital? I'm on the calcium supplements and everything
