9% to 3.2%.

I feel like Dems should rail this non stop, that every single Republican voted against this bill.

The reason Dems aren't harping on that is because under scrutiny most of that inflation reduction isn't attributable to the inflation reduction act.

Best to just say "inflation is down" and leave it at that.

The real reason is down so much is because of feds raising rates.

Sure

How about Joe Biden himself?

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/economy/inflation-is-down-but-the-inflation-reduction-act-likely-doesnt-deserve-the-credit

I wish I hadnt called it that because it has less to do with reducing inflation than it has to do with providing alternatives that generate economic growth

It has nothing to do with inflation, Biden said at a New Mexico fundraiser. It has to do with the $368 billion, the single-largest investment in climate change anywhere in the world, anywhere. No one has ever, ever spent that. And its beginning to take hold.

I think this topic may be a good reason why democrats are "bad at messaging." It's just the difference between left and right wing people. The left don't WANT to be messaged to, so they don't do it and instead are pointing out why Biden's messaging isn't correct. If this were Donnie (or any republican) they'd be blasting this all over the airwaves about how he lowered inflation and he's great. The right wing voters would be agreeing and using this argument of why he's great. Left wing people would point out why it's wrong and they'd tell them to fuck off they hate republicans for making America great and democrats support open borders.

Biden or at least the young people in charge of his social.media campaign are running with it. Which is good. Democrats suck as messaging and they really should push this further but I do think the Biden campaign is making the right choice, focus more on the economy getting better and less on what's happening to Trump's.

Prices going down would be deflation. What we did was cut the rate at which prices are going up.

Yup, I'm all for honesty, but democrats need to improve their messaging... republicans will go on the news every night and talk about how great they made the economy because of one random inconsequential statistic that is up during a recession they created!

Meanwhile, you might get some election year bragging from democrats about jobs after they spent four years fixing what republicans just broke.

Not sure where you live, but they have gone down on many key items at the grocery stores in my neck of the woods.

Remember when egg prices were skyrocketing and republicans were saying it's a signal of the end times? Well not eggs are absurdly cheap, I haven't seen them this cheap in years... getting 18 packs for under $2 - guess judgement day got postponed.

Sometimes my cynical ass wonders if Democrats' bad messaging is on purpose for whatever reason. I just can't believe they're this inept and clueless when it comes to helping themselves. Of course big media is against them, but surely there are other ways to get the message out. The question is why? Do they not want to win so much to keep up the government gridlock and thus the status quo? Maybe I'm just being too cynical here.

It was a supply chain issue, but the issue didn't affect every single distributor. Companies that weren't affected just followed suit in raising the prices because they could.

The issue is most people don't see it as inflation going down since they're still paying more than they did before for most items and wages aren't increasing enough to make up the difference.

It's a good thing for sure but people just look at how much money they have left over at the end of the month and if it's still not much they aren't going to notice that inflation is down

Problem is, the average person either doesn't care, or isn't smart enough to understand how inflation, interest rates, supply chains, etc. work, so it's easier to campaign about which bathroom the 1% of the 1% of the 1% are using, free college, and re-establishing abortion rights, because that's stuff people actually have an opinion on beyond "Things are too expensive and I don't make enough money".
