Since the Inflation Reduction Act passed last year, inflation has dropped.

the federal reserve has hiked rates to levels unseen since the mid-2000s

but sure, an act of congress was what reduced inflation

That's great for anyone already able to afford solar

And it's great for people who install solar. And it's great for the communities where solar businesses are located. And it's great for people who needed a job, because now there's demand for solar installers.

It's not going to solve an economic crisis, but it's going to help a hell of a lot more people than just homeowners buying solar.

The economy has been in a downturn since last year propped up by endless money printing. I remember bringing up the bank failures from match being a indicator of economic issues and people ignored it. Good luck to everyone when this market crashes.
The money printing was in April 2020. Biden hasn't just dumped trillions AFAIK. And all the bills passed were paid for through raising taxes and closing loopholes.

There is a lot of great stuff in this bill, whether it had a lot of actual impact on the reduction of inflation or not. This bill is what actual governing looks like: not solving every problem, but making things a little better one step at a time.

It beats performative trolling for votes, which is all the Republican Party has ever done for the entirety of this century.

Prices are not going to go down, or at least that much down because businesses like the extra money they make. So they may stop raising b them as inflation slows down but they sure won't lower them.

Except for the fact that as soon as you ask people about a specific economic indicator they say everything is fine.

What exactly do you think is so bad? The low price of gas? Continued availability of the supply chain? Low inflation? Low unemployment?

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

I have to disagree.

Republicans have no problem selling to Americans that a pile of shit smells like beautiful roses. Hence why they are able to convince a good number a swing voters to consider them.

When Trump was President, if you asked many of these people complaining about the state of the economy now, they sung praises to how great the economy was doing despite the shitty wages.

Republicans are just better than Democrats at messaging and spinning bullshit. Also way too often Democrats don't really consider swing voters. Some on this very board automatically write them off as right wingers instead of low info, memory of a goldfish voters.

Republicans are just better at tapping into the emotional aspect of working for poverty wages, and tricking those people they have their best interest to heart. Even though it's complete bs they are selling.

"The economy took off like a rocket ship." The fact you would hear this from many different people, almost verbatim, tells you all you need to know about how their messaging works.

Also, again, I don't think it's that democrats are bad at messaging, it's that democratic/left wing voters don't want to be messaged to. It's exactly as you say, right wing voters just eat up whatever they're told, meanwhile democrats DO try to message something good - i.e. inflation reduction act helping inflation - and left wingers are like "nah fam, it didn't help and here's the cause and despite the facts and figures the right creamed themselves over on the greatest economy of all time ever now being BETTER under Biden the economy isn't good because x, y, and z.... also why can't the democrats message well!"

One thing to be particular about: inflation has slowed, it does not go down. It being 3.8% now does not negate the inflation percentages of the past. Unless we are in negative inflation, which rarely happens, then it is always going up albeit slowed.

Not only does negative inflation rarely happen, it's intended in US economic policy that it doesn't happen. In theory, deflation is also bad for an overall economy. The goal is ~2% inflation year-by-year.

I can't disagree with you for the most part.

The only slight disagreement I have is I feel like Democrats could definitely improve on messaging. My focus is on reaching the swing voters and the flake (easily convinced to stay home) voters. Those two demographic of voters also tends to easily manipulated since they tend to not understand how legislation actually pass, and have the memory of a goldfish and many things.

Not saying you are accusing me of this, but to be clear, I'm not "both sides"ing this or saying it's Democrats fault things are perceived as still bad.

Is the credit fully refundable? In other words, do I have to have a tax liability large enough to actually get all the value from the tax credit?
Or is it much like the EV credits where people that have a large tax liability (large incomes) get the benefit of the credit? It'd be nice if they could help lower to middle income families get renewable energy if they are interested, not just the upper middle to higher class people

Yeah, was one of those things that after I posted I was like... I don't know if that sounds aggressive or not. lol

But yeah, I think Biden's admin is doing a bit better about messaging with stuff like this and making sure people know about the infrastructure plan and just kind of leaning into the Dark Brandon memes.

No, they threw it in because Republicans were never on board with a single thing.

Nothing stopped Republicans from putting up single bills about any of the things they didn't object to prior to the IRA being crafted.
