Just so I get the bs Privileges of other co workers who have kids must be nice being able to be late all the time and getting off sooner getting weekends off when you just say oh I have a kid so I can get off

They're crappy workers if they're using the kid as an excuse. I have two kids and I'm never late, have worked late/weekends. The only time I ever pull the kid card is if they're sick and can't go to school... And my wife and I have always taken turns for that. A little less so since I'm WFH now but that's how we used to...

If my kids have something I need to attend I bring that up with the boss and either use PTO or work late or whatever to make it fair. Honestly if the boss approves it's nobody's business...

Yeah I am going try that. Right now that changed my job up so I work in the normal office that I planned on working at even the office that I moved closer too. But then they made me work in some satellite office. I am going be like boss, I really can't do this satellite work anymore, it is hard on me and the kids . By time I get back, I am too worn out to play catch with CJJ... CJ Jr.

I always never wanted kids and as I got older and dated I realised I just want pets and be by myself. Admittedly I just watch my friends who have kids and am so damn glad I dont have kids

Weekends off is nice but getting paid less for the other things isnt something Id aim for. Also I wouldnt want to have a kid cause it seems like it sucks.

Pretending to smoke in your car for extra breaks would be nice though lol

I still have to use some form of leave to take care of my kid stuff, which means I'm less likely to take a proper break from work because I never know when the next kid crisis may be

Im torn. On the one hand, I feel guilty for not having kids and not carrying on the family name, and I think having a post-college Som would be pretty awesome. On the other hand, I see people with kids and I just think: That looks exhausting, annoying, and life ruining.

Not that the dilemma particularly matters in my case, as my vision makes me incapable of driving anywhere to meet women, and I have the social skills of a Mr. Potato Head.

I'm self-employed and do contract work. Even though I give a pretty exact window of time when I'll complete a job, some customers think I should spend every waking hour finishing it ASAP. I absolutely have lied about having to get home to the kids because it is sometimes the only reason a client will take without giving me a bunch of shit. I even have a picture of my nephews in my wallet just in case.

sigh.... Smokers get breaks in addition to their regular scheduled breaks, as per some bylaws. Meaning if you were scheduled for 3 breaks over the course of an 8 hour shift, a Smoker could get as many as 6 breaks to satisfy their nicotine craving.

You can partially blame them, sure. But I also blame those who think having kids grants special privileges.

A person having children is not some reason to think the world needs to bend over to accommodate their needs, and that people without kids are bad people if they don't accommodate them.

Like that recent story of the mother getting upset another woman didn't want to give up her assigned seat on a plane so they can all sit together.

Thats the fault of Management, not the employee. Those employees should never be late because they sought have a later start and end time than everyone else.

For example, my wife is on first shift at her job so that she is home with the kids in the evening. Im on second shift so that I can get them up and ready for school in the morning.

Abs at your job, not everyone should need to come in and get off at the same time. This has several benefits:

• You can stagger lunches so there is always coverage. Nothing is not annoying as a customer than waking up a door and seeing Out for lunch. Like everyone?
• Employees dont have to both open and close the business. This puts less stress on them.
• The late shift employees can stay after core hours to do data entry, record keeping, closing the books for the day, and stocking and cleaning.

In short, those employees should never be late. Theyre schedules should be adjusted accordingly.

As far as weekends go, it should be either rotational with the schedule made weeks in advance, or everyone should have work either Saturday or Sunday, with the days being tradable, or there should be a dedicated weekend crew who makes a weekend premium (15%) to work 12 hour shits Fri through Sunday or 10 hour shifts Fri thru Monday.

And any employee that cant work with those constraints can find employment elsewhere.

When i did retail back in the day people would use the my kid is sick excuse all the time. Theyd make it seem like its a young child, but then youd find out the child in question would be 17-18+ years old lol

People who say shit like this seem to have their mind blown when they realize that other people have responsibilities that they take care of when they aren't working.

Like, other people have to do things other than jerk off and play video games when they aren't at work. It's not an "excuse" to blow off work lol.

Thats definitely one of the most annoying things about people with kids. Its like they cant / wont understand that there are people who have lives that revolve around things other than kids.

you know what, you're right. maybe you should just do it then. seems worth it.

This is dumb if you work in retail because no one will care but it'd be funny in a WFH corporate setting where having kids definitely gives you status. The only thing I'd be worried about is if someone looked at your tax form and figured it out.
