I have seen a few stories when Superman or Girl have gotten upset that people have kryptonite. And does that also come off as hypocritical. They work with the police who have guns that can kill anyone , and they them selves can kill anyone in second. So why should they care if someone else (like besides Lex) have a means to kill them. That is what people live with all the time.

If my best friend was buying poison for the specific goal of murdering me if they ever had to, I might get a little mad too.

I think Superman does generally condone Batman having it though. I think he gives it to him in most continuities.

It's just not a gun, it's like a gun that only affects a couple of specific people. Wouldn't you be bothered if somebody had an "anti-cjsdowg gun" that only worked on you?

Yeah it's not just a gun, it's something you'd only have for the specific purpose of hurting a Kryptonian so no shit Supes is skeptical of anyone who makes a point of gathering it.

It's not hypocritical by any means.

I'm actually pretty well aware that Superman tends to be kind of a center-left and decent person in the care of most writers at DC over the years, which is why this particular bit of canon seems strange.

He can just leave the planet if it bothers him.

What's strange about it? He doesn't want to be a ruler. Single-handedly stealing and destroying weaponry worldwide would kinda mean he's doing that.

Isn't this literally the first thing he does in Injustice?

They do have problem with Guns.They are people who, when written properly, want every situation to end with no loss of life.

However Superman doesn't nor shouldn't have the unilateral authority to remove weapons en masse because they will pose a threat to each other.

He also knows that he can't go unchecked which is why he does give Batman Kryptonite for the purpose of stopping him if he needs to be. That's because he knows Batman and fully trusts Batman.

He doesn't want the governments/military of the world to have it because he knows he doesn't wish to be threatened by them when he's trying to help and work with them but not for or under them.

And as for Lex Luthor, it's Lex Luthor. Does that need explanation why he doesn't want him to have a stockpile of Kryptonite?

There was a comic where Batsie & CO decided to clean the planet of Kryptonite, there were tons of it.

It's kind of like X-rays. It's not dangerous in short bursts, but it's still radioactive and prolonged exposure will fuck you up. Lex eventually developed cancer.

Kryptonite and the element krypton are unrelated. Kryptonite are irradiated pieces of the planet Krypton that traveled along with Clark's ship.

There was a story where they recorded an inuniverse Batman/Superman movie, and they used real kryptonite because it was easier, and cheaper, to get than to use some fake plastic thing.

The issue there is that it's super dumb because if it were cheaper than a plastic prop, every crook in Metropolis would carry some.

I always thought Superman generally gave Batman kryptonite so someone could stop him if he goes rogue.

I feel like it's an insult considering how much he has done for earth while asking for nothing in return.

It seemed like that at the time. Everyone and their grandmother was able to get their hands on some Kryptonite. That's why there's an entire Batman/Superman early 2000s story arc dedicated to both of them getting rid of the majority of it.

Superman can handle some if he expects it, so the crooks would believe that it was fake.

I have some in case General Zod or some other criminal from his planet shows up. They were a space traveling race, others couldve escaped.

Eh, Kryptonite actually doesn't come up that often and when it does it's normally in the hands of the very rich, government organizations or people bankrolled by them.

But Superman comics can go a dozen issues or more without it popping up.

I remember an episode in Smallville where there's a bunch of kryptonite in a sauna in place of rocks. Guy just splashed water on the heated kryptonite to create steam. Can't remember what powers he got from it.

In the Silver Age, there used to be a group of aliens called "The Superman Revenge Squad." They mined Kryptonite from Krypton's debris field and sent it to Earth in abundance as meteorites to fuck with Superman.
