Well at least the GBC version that came out on NSO.

I can't believe seeing the 8-bit renditions of the card artwork made me nostalgic for the cards lol. Like everyone else I collected a bunch of them but never played the damn game

If you're have a ton of rare ones maybe. But the rest of the cards are only a couple of bucks each tho. Plus you gotta find people who want to buy it too

It's not an RPG or anything, but you can play the modern card game online. Not the same thing exactly, but at least it lets you play the card game.

Im so glad I had my Pokmon card nostalgia kick in 2013 when prices were still reasonable/available. Bought every card and sealed pack back then.

I was like huh, maybe the boomers were right, these cards still arent worth much.

The RPG part was what made it so good. It's the same reason that Shandalar is the best way to play MtG in video game form.

The game has a really underrated soundtrack

....I used to have first editions of all of those. They got stolen ;_;

It's really a shame they never bothered to continue with single player video games for Pokemon TCG and Magic the Gathering. Magic in particular, Shandalar is one of my all time favorites

I have the promo Meowth card that came with the physical version of this game, still in its wrapper.

Last I checked it's basically not worth anything, though. Like I'm pretty sure random uncommon cards from the early sets are worth more than it for some reason.

I was like 10 years old when the TCG came out. Played at the local Wizards of the Coast store (yes those were a thing) all the time without incident

So in the tcg are Pokmon real or do everybodys lives revolve around the tcg?

Yeah, I still have my binder full of old ones. Some old holos too, but not like 1st edition shit. But some are also in rough shape due to my clumsy ass dropping the binder and spilling the cards out so much as a kid.

I used to go to a Japanese store that had some Japanese packs, including the gym leaders set. This was around the time of Fossil, and I was obsessed with psychics and, thus, Sabrina. So I bought a bunch of packs and tried to collect her set. I got everything, except her Gengar.

Finally, Gym leaders came out in the US, and I went to buy a pack. Lo and behold, I opened it and got her Gengar! I was so fucking psyched, I went back to complete my collection.

The entire binder had been stolen. I lost everything.

This was my third binder being stolen, I did not start a 4th.

Oh yeah, there was plenty of cards stolen at my school. But I haven't seen a fist fight from the game tho lol

I mostly just heard about them, but I did have some kid grab my deck and try and hold it above my head, I grabbed his arm then took the deck from him and he punched me in the face.

Then he got introduced to mall security for punching a preteen kid >.>;

It's mostly rares and holos. Maybe 1k at the low end but I've got a couple Charizards. Then again I have to find them and don't know where to start.

It's especially frustrating when Yu-Gi-Oh remains hugely popular and to this day continues to do both, heck even the singleplayer games often have online multiplayer. Pokemon TCG is especially bad though, AFAIK you can only play on PC (possibly mobile now too?) but it's not available on Steam or even Switch. Absolutely stupid.

It's kinda like how Fortnite is the most popular Battle Royale and easily has the best battlepass but nobody will copy it and always end up too scared/greedy despite there being living proof it works.
