It's really funny how Leffen makes people's heads explode. When other FGC players off handedly tweet something salty its all part of the environment but when Leffen does it he's violating the integrity of the community. Any fighting game Leffen is good must not be a real fighting game, so sadly Guilty Gear can never come back to EVO.

Yeah,, Leffen wasn't a good choice for this kind of topic. Of all the big name Smash pros, he's been the best (by a significant margin) at transitioning into other fighters. Case in point him winning GG Strive at Evo last night and getting very good results in DBFZ before that.

I'm good at Smash, and even better with the items turned on, more players, and on stages that aren't just a flat platform. There are skills in that game that don't really translate to most fighters, like you need a lot of situational awareness beyond just what your immediate opponent is doing. Being able to divert your attention to multiple things at once becomes an asset when it is just a handicap in a traditional fighting game.

The game is inherently really customizable so this doesn't even make sense as a statement. The innate state of the game isn't everybody treating every stage/item equally

It'd be like saying TF2 leagues aren't real shooters because they ban a bunch of unlocks. It's just not a coherent statement and it's obviously based on some sense of ego rather than what actually takes place in the game itself

It's great to see that ego get shattered

Probably less common, but yeah. SonicFox quit Ultimate pretty quickly. He did not do well in early tristate locals. The thing is though that nobody really shit on him for it, he's still one of the GOATs and he just didn't click with Ult lol

Popular doesn't mean better.l or more complex. Strive is significantly watered down compared to past GG titles and is far more popular.

It's also still a fighting game with items on too btw. No one would argue street Fighter isn't a fighting game because Cody can throw a knife at you.

Having a projectile as part of your kit vs something on the ground to pick up is wildly different
