Is been long enough

Yea I only got 250 hours out of it. Not worth the $69.99 price gouge.

It's basically just replaced BotW in all aspects.

Yeah it has made BOTW utterly irrelevant, but while it was much more meaty in terms of content, it still has the same damn issues BOTW has such as not being able to sustain itself over a long period of time. After 30 - 40 hours you more or less have seen everything the game has to offer other than you coming up with ridiculous vehicles. In fact it's even grindier than BOTW which is not enjoyable.

Temples are nice, the story being more focused is nice, so they have a much better foundation to play with, but it still has a far way to go to truly be astounding.

Its fun, but just too much for me. I havent even finished it being at the last "dungeon".

I wasnt a massive fan. Its not bad, but didnt live up to my expectations.

No, but the nostalgia for BotW is probably going to overshadow my memories of this one despite TotK having tons more content.

It's a Zelda game. Can't be disappointed if no expectations.

tbh yeah, the honeymoon period is over. i enjoyed my time with it and all, but in retrospect, it's just a BotW remix, and while that's enough for a lot of people, i would have liked something more... sequely? than that

They just released the gameboy games on the switch. Oracle of ages, seasons and my favourite. Links awakening. Great games that are played at any time. This one will be no different.

if someone wanted to play one of the two, but only one, i'd say play totk.

Something being loved upon release only to be hated a month or two later is the hot trend.

I think one aspect that might draw me back to BotW eventually is the beautiful, pristine world to explore. Hyrule in TotK is, to put it mildly, fucked up - giant red oozing holes everywhere, random sky crap crashed all over the place and ruining the skyline, hodgepodge towers built on every formerly-unspoiled mountain peak, the Zora Kingdom looking like the Exxon Valdez disaster, etc.

Im still working through it, but im starting to get tired of how hidden some of the shrines are, i have one more main quest before hyrule castle

I wasn't hoping for a leap, just something to justify it being a sequel. More present day story or something. As it is, they seemed to only focus on the building and that just means to me they didn't have any ideas themselves.

I hate having to build shit.

I loved the 100 or so hours I spent with it, but by that point id completed all the temples and explored pretty much everything that interested me. I still need to finish the final boss but after that I dont really see myself playing it much again.

After over 100 hours some cracks begin to show, with the main one for me being the combat. By end game it pretty much devolves into smacking around enemies that refuse to die, and it just stopped being fun for me

The Autobuild ability was a gamechanger for me.

I really could not get into it even though BotW is one of my favorite games ever. Maybe one day Ill pick it up again but right now Im having way too much fun with Cyberpunk and the holiday season is too stacked.

I will say though that while I didn't like TotK all that much, everything Ganondorf and everything about the ending was amazing so it is worth it in the emd

I only got like 15 hours out of it. Felt like I was playing the same game but it was filled with repetitive side quests and monotonous construction

Disagree. I'm at 75, been all over the map and i'm still finding new things all over the place. Its crazy.

It has completely disillusioned me on the open world genre as a whole

TotK is incredible, it somehow managed to disrespect your time even worse than BotW.

It is better than botw in most ways, but I feel like it wasn't different from botw enough. It was great for 30-40 hours but I'm having a hard time going back to it.

Botw being as revolutionary as it was gives it the edge imo as the better game, despite all the improvements Totk made.

In terms of things to do it's certainly better than BotW to me. But, for some reason they also decided to add onto the grindiness that was already sorta prevalent in BotW. Armor upgrades now require a money payment every single time which means you'll be spending tens of thousands on Rupees on them, subsequently sellables are now worth less. The process of increasing your Zonai magic meter has an unnecessary extra step by forcing you to convert Zonaite into Zonai charges. You could also just defeat bosses in the Depths for...20 charges each when you need 100 per battery segment? Yeah...it's time consuming either way.

To each their own, I'm not saying it's a barren wasteland. But after the umpteenth korok seed or shitty reward (same exact issue as BOTW) then it becomes monotonous and useless other than "wow that looks cool!".

So far, TotK has surpassed BotW in rewarding exploration imo. One of my biggest complaints with BotW was that exploration rewards were too structured and predictable; I was psyched the first time hunted down one of the great dragons because the statue of Wisdom / Courage / Power told me to, but halfway through it dawned on me 'oh...wait, this is just going to open up another Shrine, isn't it?' The predictability of exploration rewards made the game feel almost sterile towards the end.

So far in TotK, I've been rewarded with a godsend of a new ability, a full heart / stam container, and a rare item vendor / replacer simply because I thought it'd be fun to visit The Great Plateau again; similarly, on a whim I thought I'd build a flying machine and go check out that ominous storm cloud over Faron; this led me on a multi-stage quest where I unlocked both a significant chunk of the story and a cool rideable robot partner. And that's not even counting the fact that finding new outfit pieces is a result of much more organic exploration as opposed to just being Shrine rewards. TotK so far has been much more freeform - and subsequently surprising / rewarding - with its exploration.

I put a good 40 hours or so in but ended up giving up without finishing the story. There's definitely some fun to be had but ultimately I found it disappointing.

Wow, I thought I was the only one feeling the honey moon phase go away. I will say this, while TotK didn't exactly live up to its hype for me, personally, I will say with confident that at least it's a good well made game with a lot of love and passion put into it.

Legit one of the best games I've ever played, and I've been a gamer for literally 35 years.

TotK might end up being my GotY, but pretty much this. I really felt like I was playing a massive DLC update - which isn't a bad thing since BotW is one of my favorite games ever - but it's still a world I'm already well familiar with. The feeling of wandering around not knowing what to expect was less common this time around.

No, but its highly overrated. It is very derivative of Breath of the Wild. It is the least bold direct Zelda sequel I can think of.

If I've never played botw, it would have been maybe 8.7 out of 10. I have to deduct points for the bastard weapon degradation system and forcing you to use monster parts.

But since I played botw twice, both times completing everything except korok seeds. Totk just has too much padding. You have to do even more shrines, re-collect all armour pieces and it's even more annoying to upgrade them. You need to give I think the same amount of korok seeds to hesta for the same slot upgrades.

I liked TotK and thought it was better than BotW. Like BotW, the game wasn't amazing or close to being one of the best Zelda.

Did Link not have them stored away for future use? Its the same backwards logic when we ask why does Samus lose all of her abilities once the current game ends.

It's my number 1 favorite game.

I think I'm satisfied with it.

Oh I still agree, it definitely kept me much more interested than BOTW did that's for sure. I still think it needed more to it in the end. And it really did feel like BOTW 2.0 which is not bad in of itself, but I like each Zelda feeling pretty different. Be it art, gameplay, openness, etc.

That wind temple ascent was fucking sick though, I loved it.

I was disapointed with TotK before I was even halfway through BotW.

The games are by no means bad, but repeating all the things I hated about BotW with TotK did absolutely nothing to make me feel better about the new formula...

I got early 300 out of it, so Im good Not a disappointment at all

I think it makes it so the only piece you actually collect were the ones required, like Zora Armor. Like for canon, I guess And the only reason you still dont have it is because it was being repaired Not all sequels can pull it off well Some, like Horizon Forbidden West, do it well

Much as I really liked it on my first playthrough, BotW just isn't a game I can get into replaying, so I just skipped TotK entirely.
