FFXI's Absolute Virtue, back when I still played a guild fought it for over 12 hours and still lost. Pretty sure the devs eventually nerfed it along with the increase of the level cap eventually allowed players to beat it but that was years after it came out. ... Copied to Clipboard!

I can't remember exactly how long it took but it was normal encounter length for the time. 12 hour and other ridiculous times you hear about are because if adds were too close to AV they would heal him and you would literally never kill him. People have fought him for 24 hours where a timer will make him despawn mid fight. No not actually true what they showed that you need to counter the two hour with your own two hour however they did it with no lag or latency which made it impossible to replicate on any online server.
