I give the advantage to Patrick just because hes less of a useless fuck who can cause some massive damage. And hes literally a felon on the lam who refuses to allow charges against himself to proceed.

IIRC he was one of the first prominent voices to say 'the elderly should be sacrificed for the sake of the economy' at the start of the pandemic.

Not surprising at all. They accuse liberals and the left of indoctrinating students and persecuting conservatives because that's what they do and want to do more of. And they consider it morally righteous, not corrupt.

If we had a functioning legal system, this would be prosecuted as a severe denial of academic freedom and viewpoint/content discrimination.

also he isn't under criminal indictment, but he is a supporter (and judge for the senate impeachment trial) of ken paxton who is indicted and facing felony charges from the fbi as well as a senate trial in texas after the house impeached him 121-23 for corruption.

Texas A&M would not answer questions about what specific policy Alonzo may have violated with her comments or provide documents pertaining to the investigation, citing state law that allows a university to withhold such information if a person is cleared of wrongdoing.

Formal censure, 2 week administration leave, an official statement denouncing the professor's comments without ever clarifying what the comments were, the lt. gov getting play by play updates during the investigation, and all while the professor was cleared of any wrongdoing? This is such bullshit. Yet another step towards fascism.

We talk about this a lot in Texas actually. With this case in particular, in concert with the recent Kathleen McElroy debacle, has me and other alumni opening criticizing the university for doing everything in its power to be so shitty that no top talent will ever look at it like viable destination outside of it's veterinary program.

In regards to what Abbott is doing with immigration, the DOJ has at least told him to stop or they'd sue and Abbott literally said he'd "see them in court".

I don't have any faith at all that Garland will hold a high-ranking government official to accountability of his own initiation or volition, just pointing out they are at least taking umbrage with what he's doing.
