Just played Hidden Agenda and it stunk. Made me want to play an actual good game where you try to piece together a mystery.

I do like LA Noire, but wouldn't consider it a great detective game where you put all the pieces together. Really liked Her Story which is sort of that and it makes you feel like you're actually connecting the dots and solving a mystery.

Any suggestions would be great.

Murdered Soul Suspect was good.

Some of the Sherlock Holmes games are fun, I'd dig to see what ones are worth looking at.

Painscreek Killing. You basically just read notes around a small town and find objects to gain access to new areas.

Beyond Shadow of Doubt has gotten good reviews. i think its still in early access. Havent played it yet. Read that it has forced raytracing so I wouldn't be able to run it well i think. Maybe ill still give it a try

oh yeah i forgot that the ending of TPK was pretty disappointing since it uhh invalidates all the theories you might have while playing. so id only get that game on sale (typically like $20 normal price so on sale could be below $10 maybe) or if you have high resistance to bad endings. i honestly mainly enjoyed walking around the town and progressing to new areas and reading more about the inhabitants. so peaceful. the "puzzles" are mostly straightforward but i did get stumped like two or three times because of missed objects or i didn't examine objects closely enough to look for some fucking code or clue (I hate when games do this).

im gonna try out Her Story first instead of shadows of doubt since it is $10 cheaper

Def not Heavy Rain. The big reveal contradicts itself. It is sooooooo bad.

Detroit Become Human was a much better Cage game.

Anyway, it is kind of popular now, but Phoenix Wright is legit good.

Yeah always meant to get around to the series eventually. But can you fail cases or are you always going to get to the solution in the end?

Pro-tip: Play with a pen and pad of paper. Take notes. I really do love the experience and wish we got more games that tried something different like it.

I think Heavy Rain has a fantastic tone and setting and set up, but does fall apart. It could be exactly what I'm looking for, especially since some ways you can fail to solve the case and get different endings, buuuut it is what it is by the end.

So it's not exactly a detective game but if you really liked Disco Elysium consider playing Planescape: Torment. DE obviously took some very heavy inspiration from Planescape.

As mentioned by several people, Phoenix Wright. The gold standard for this sort of game while still being very fun

The Nancy Drew pc series. Yes, they are based off of a series mostly written for little girls, but the games often have a pretty dark tone coupled with real nitty gritty detective stuff that I cannot imagine anyone who isn't older actually playing. Giving me one of those games as a kid would have made me go insane.

Broken Sword. It's equal parts detective work and globetrotting high stakes adventure but the majority of the game is indeed trying to solve a murder mystery. Very approachable and playable for an adventure game of its time

If you're alright with visual novels, Kara no Shoujo.

You play as a detective in 1950's Tokyo and have to work out why schoolgirls are being murdered and their wombs removed. Pretty gruesome and not for the faint of heart. Very compelling though.

I am missing 25 clips in Her Story. I've placed all the clips I've found so far in active user session.

Been putting them in order as best I can. This gonna take forever because moving the bar with the mouse wheel is soo slow . Wish I still had that logitech mouse with freestyle wheel spin feature. Gonna watch them all and maybe find the rest of the clips eventually.
