The Force Awakens is boring. The Rise of Skywalker is offensively toothless. The Last Jedi has some garbage but some really great bits too. Mainly whenever Luke is on screen.

There's a weird revisionist history where people are trying to claim RoS isn't that bad. I'd rank it as at best the second worst star wars film.

I'll have to disagree because Rise of Skywalker was unbelievably bad, but Last Jedi did completely fuck up his character so I can see why he would dislike it the most.

Weird saying that in this thread when nobody is making that claim. Either way, it's a coin flip between that and Phantom Menace for me in terms of shittiest Star Wars movie.

RoS is worse, but I can see how John hates TLJ. They butchered his character in it.

RoS kills off Chewbacca, oh but then he's fine! Created a really interesting scenario of Rey accidentally killing her friend but nah, too interesting. Oh but maybe Rey is tempted by the dark side? Nah she isn't. No conflict there. She's just fine. The end.

i appreciate TLJ for trying to unshackle star wars from the skywalkers and everything it's been tied to. i don't like much else about the movie, and greatly dislike some things it did.

TFA is the least objectionable movie. but a lot of finn fans (he was the entire reason i cared to watch any new star wars trilogy) like to point out how he was sidelined in TLJ (he was) and forget the jedi okey doke they did with him in this movie. so fuck TFA for that too.

In a vacuum, ROS is the worse movie but TLJ did almost irreparable damage to the Star Wars franchise.

TLJ is the worst because it sets up TROS to fail AND destroyed the franchise. TROS wouldn't have been bad if TLJ had been competently written, but nope, Disney/Rian sure swung the contrarian "SUBVERT YER EXPECTATIONS" nutsack in everyone's faces.

Which in themselves are exceedingly terrible movies, so making such a statement would be like saying Death Note 2017 is a better movie than Dragon Ball Evolution.

I like The Last Jedi and I'm tired of pretending it's bad. Also, in what world is RoS not the worst? I thought that was generally agreed upon.

Its ok to like a movie.
I think TLJ is the third best after ANH and ESB.
ROS is mostly unpleasant. To me. Ill take TFA ahead of anything from the prequels or ROTJ.

Well on one hand, literally everything about Rise of Skywalker is godawful except for the visuals, but on the other, The Phantom Menace is not only pure garbage with early Playstation era visuals, it's also one of the most pointless movies in existence, you could legit start the prequels off at Attack of the Clones and lose fucking nothing. There's a reason why the several fan edits of the Star Wars prequels I've seen that combine them into one movie gut 99% of the Phantom Menace, it's terrible and adds nothing.

maybe the movie is so forgettable that i didn't even realize the chewie moment was a thing in the movie... and yet i still think TLJ is a far worse movie.

TLJ is the only movie in the trilogy worth even a quarter of a fuck, but this is still like arguing which pile of shit is the smelliest.

TLJ was slow speed chase in space. And for some reason, the heroes could leave the ships at anytime that they wanted. A Officer not telling their crew that a plan existed. (she didn't have to tell them what it was).
And character who was hero, being made the responsible for the deaths of a billions because RJ connected with Kylo.

RoS was genuinely hilarious to me bc it was so dumb. That's at least entrainment value. And at a minimum it stuck to an actual proper narrative with a beginning, middle, and end.

TLJ was dumb but also miserable and ended up where it left off. Nothing of value happened the entire runtime.

TLJ isnt great, but its nowhere near as bad as the last one. One of the worst movies Ive ever seen.

It was the worst for Finn no doubt.

TLJ was the best of the three when it focused on anything but Finn.

I get why he disliked it because it didn't serve his character at all.

TLJ and TROS are both equally bad. TFA is the only watchable one and it's still not great.

TROS is not only bad - it's dumb and bad.

Palpatine returns "somehow". There's a mysterious Sith dagger that acts as a wayfinder by looking at the unstable Death Star wreckage from a specific spot. Palpatine is somehow in hiding on a planet with some ridiculous amount of followers who have somehow constructed a ridiculous amount of Star Destroyers capable of destroying planets. And they're defeated because everyone suddenly decides to show up and fight him despite the Resistance being whittled down to, like, one ship of people by the end of TLJ.

The moment you put any actual thought into it, it sounds goofy as hell - because it is goofy as hell.

I just can't believe how these grown adults acted like kids. Non of them were willing to yield for the bigger picture. Rian Johnson undid all the plot set ups in episode 7 and then JJ Abram kinda did a stealth fu to episode 8.

Either have all 3 movies have different directors or just one director do all three. Never alternate directors like its some game.

Oh, well after what happened with 7 and 8. I don't think the 3rd director could have saved the trilogy.

Which then makes me think how they didn't sit down at a table to discuss a framework for all 3 movies so we'd actually get a coherent story instead of just giving each director complete freedom and let them do their thing.

Complaints about the sequel trilogy are still incredibly cringey I see. Cant wait till this isnt the in thing anymore.
