Cars were supposed to meet certain fuel efficiency standards - updated periodically, of course - but exemptions for sport and utility vehicles were made so that things like a camper RV didn't have to meet the same requirements as a four door sedan. Not the most efficient I guess but can haul 7-8 people and gets decent mileage. I drive a Corolla. Definitely miss my Tacoma but needed something smaller and better on gas. Most people drive used cars from Japan that are 10-20 years old so the majority of cars are from old trend periods. I drive a small hatchback which is a great city-only car, and a lot of people here drive kei cars...not sure if I could do that.
