But thats not the point. The point is that there are situations where street justice makes 100% sense. Thats all.

And they were proven correct.

No. We're saying that the ends don't justify the means. Vigilante justice kills far more innocent people than guilty people. Saying that vigilante justice is okay is saying that you're fine with the innocents being collateral.

It seems to be a pretty widespread observation that the moderation on this board leaves much to be desired.

What examples?

I don't commit this stuff to memory; I've just followed a couple of topics wherein the posts of the person who got in trouble all seemed very reasonable. From what I've personally seen around here, people are very quick to make very negative assumptions and then use those assumptions (however unfounded) to rationalize why the person should get in trouble, leaving little room for productive discourse unless two people already share the same opinion.

That is correct. There is a reason the right to due process and a presumption of innocence is hard coded into our constitution and a guiding principle of our entire legal system.
