Just kidding. I find it pretty hard to care about tennis these days, since Djokovic is so dominant and Fed's retired and Nadal's retirement is imminent.

Alcaraz is supposedly the next major talent but it just seems like a pretty weak era.

The rain in Spain falls mainly on the plain.

At least the women's game is in a fun place. But yeah, hard to care much until someone can show they can challenge Djokovic (I say as Alcaraz gives back his advantage in the second set)

Djokovic going for the actual Grand Slam at the US Open is something compelling!

The lesser of two evils compared to...Rafael Nadal???

It's a matter of seeing now if Alcaraz can truly grab the moniker of being the "next big thing" and carry on the legacy of domination from Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic. I know he's ranked #1 but the Slams are what matters, so in my mind he's really got to win at least 2 of the next 5 for me to think he's gotten to that level.

My country has been more interested in Tennis recently than in a while I feel, which is undoubtfully due to Holger Rune, same age as Alcarez. Hopefully he can keep being at top level.

Yeah it's the irrationality of sport

Djokovic did some shitty stuff and I'm less of a fan than I was, but ultimately he is not Nadal, who has plagued my interest in the sport for years. I can't stand the man.

I don't think Nadal has much claim to being better than Djokovic even if Nadal does come back and win two more before he retires - he is too concentrated around a single surface and has a multitude of early GS losses in the other three slams that help put him below Federer, never mind Djokovic.

But it's a bit like Messi vs. Ronaldo. Messi was so obviously the superior player to the majority of people that watch football; there is and was such a gulf between them. But Messi winning the World Cup removed any doubt, and that is now a finished discussion. Similarly, there's not much avenue to say Nadal > Djokovic now, but there'll be one if Nadal overtakes Djokovic's GS total. I don't want it to be inconclusive.

I don't think Nadal wins another GS. I'm sure he's pushing for one more French Open for the storybook ending, but I think his body's just done.

By the numbers, there shouldn't even be a "big 3" anymore. It should just be Djokovic standing alone. But Federer is just too popular, and so the big 3 has to stick around as a talking point.

I don't think he has it in him either, but I've counted him out before. It's a hip thing atm though and those tend to be pretty bad

Thing is, Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic would all very likely have so many more slams if either of the other 2 didn't exist. Yes, Nadal is miles ahead on clay but he'd have at least a few more Wimbledon and AO trophies without the other 2.

Djokovic should be able to pull 3-4-5-6 ahead without the other 2 there anymore. Same way Federer got so far ahead before the other 2 really joined the scene. Not to mention, didn't Federer and Nadal both all 3-4 more slams after reaching Djokovic current age?

Djokovic would've had at least two more if not for a worldwide pandemic and his refusal to get vaccinated

If Rafael Nadal puts everything he has left, mind body and soul into one last French Open, I am not going to doubt he can pull it off, but thats his ceiling. One more.

Started watching during the second set and that sure went places. That 32 point game in the 3rd was ridiculous.
