Anyone with half a brain knew this was coming when that SCOTUS decision went down. It was never going to stop at denying gay people products or services in the private sector.

I dislike the ruling, but the SCOTUS ruling in 303 should have literally no impact on this.

This site needs to start removing conservative posters en masse.

If you support the Republican party as it is today you do not belong in society.

But they said it was only for artistic things, that this would never be pushed further. So are any of the people who said "don't worry" over a fake case being used to justify discrimination going to walk it back now that we have state employees using it to argue that it should allow them to use their religion to deny people secular state documentation?

Or will they say "just get a new judge?"

If you're wondering how they're going to rule, I'll remind you that they're elected, not appointed. They answer to same people who voted for Trump and Abbott and Cruz.

Spoiler alert, they're gonna rule in favor. Because it's Texas.

They did the same over Roe v. Wade. They were always saying repugs and the SCOTUS were never going to go after it.

Religious freedom has always meant our religious freedom to tell you what to do. Its a one way street.

Abuse the "but my religious freedom" by forcing people to identify their religion and then systematically actually start giving them the same treatment.

Which is why they shifted to the the "gay/trans people are groomers" tactic. It appeals to more mainstream society under the guise of "protecting the children".

You are going to reach a modern audience much better that way than "sky wizard says gays are bad".

Yep. It prevents states from refusing to acknowledge marriage licenses from other states via Commerce Clause authority. States still maintain authority over the institution within the state subject to the requirements imposed by the US Constitution and corresponding SCotUS case law.

The people blaming religion should stop kidding themselves. If you could drop an atheist bomb on Texas and everyone woke up not believing in God, the fascists would still be fascists.

They're not enforcing religion. They're using religion as a justifier for their bigotry. I hate that it's the smokescreen they choose to hide behind, but we'd have the same problem with or without religion. Homosexuals are oppressed in Russia and that has nothing to do with faith. It's just tyranny for the sake of tyranny, intolerance for the sake of intolerance.

Anyway, fuck what they're doing. There should be riots when these things come up. I guess the last time we turned over cars and set fire to buildings in opposition to injustice was the last time we were going to. You can tread on us all you like now. We'll never fight back.
