So at the end the guy basically gives a speech to Thanos about how, despite his evil machinations, the man is still living and survives all his horrible mistreatments and Thanos cannot break him.

At which point Thanos punches the ceiling to break the pipes and flood his home and announced "I don't care, see you next year"

Because he doesn't. There's no reason. Thanos finds it amusing.

It's my head canon that that guy finds out he's a mutant (with some minor unimportant mutation), moves to Krakoa, and the next year when Thanos shows up, the X-Men just wreck his shit.
