Does your area restrict Sunday alcohol sales?

Mine restricts sales on Sunday evenings, Jesus would be proud.

I don't drink, so I'm not 100% sure, but google says you can't buy alcohol here on sundays. It wouldn't surprise me, TN is backwards as fuck.

They started selling on Sundays here a few years ago. We have dry counties in surrounding areas.

Yeah. It's the second most restrictive state in the country. There's only like one liquor store in the county that's open on Sundays, and limited hours.

Liquor stores are unilaterally closed on Sundays.

You can get beer/wine after 10 am on Sunday. Used to be noon for forever. To the point where thats mentally ingrained in my head.

Here in England most large stores can only open for six hours on Sunday. Smaller stores are allowed longer opening hours and under the Licensing Act 2003 pubs, bars, and liquor stores are allowed to be open 24/7. Really feels like a big middle finger to the Keep Sunday Special campaign.

To my knowledge, you still can't "legally" buy alcohol before 9am on Sunday. I think mileage may very on how strictly its enforced, but most stores of repute abide by it. I believe it's fair game outside of that very small window one day of the week.

edit: I think bars and restaurants have to stop serving by 1am through the week, but actual stores can sell it 24/7 except for Sunday

double edit: I actually got curious and looked it up (non-drinker here, so going off of past experiences from years ago). Apparently, the Sunday law was changed 2 years ago and Sunday sales hours at stores are now the same as every other day (6am -1:30am). Bars are generally the same, but there are places that can stay open until 3am. Having grown up and lived in the bar district for much of my life, I should have remembered that last bit. *shrug*

Liquor stores closed, but sales otherwise unrestricted (and you can buy beer, wine, and spirits at other stores, such as supermarkets and CVS).
Last I heard, it was the liquor store association that didn't want to expand to Sunday hours. They wanted a day off!

The national alcohol monopoly stores are closed on Sunday. You can still by alcohol up to 5,5% strength in grocery stores. Restaurants and bars can sell any alcohol.

There have been multiple efforts to ditch them entirely (the current laws are a compromise brought in after one such effort failed) but I think the current laws are likely to persist due to them effectively giving smaller (often independently-owned) stores Sunday all to themselves. There's a fair bit of lobbying to keep that out of fear that the large supermarket chains would kill them off entirely if Sunday trading were unrestricted.

I live in PA, which the commonwealth LCB controls hard liquor and can only be purchased from "fine wine and good spirits" state stores.

On sundays, select stores are open, but the hours are weird like 11-7, 12-5, etc. Not a full 9-9 or 9-10 like other days.

Yes, they did. Our laws here are kind of strange. I remember when I turned 21 it worked like this:

wine and spirits: state store
case of beer: independently owned beer distributor
6 pack: BARS ONLY (wtf)

if I have my facts correct. That sounds awfully stupid.

Disclaimer: I actually work for the PLCB as a GM of a state store. I am okay with as open as it is now, but that shit in the past sounds wild.

No, although there's still some religious influence in that 3 of the 3.5 days a year that alcohol can't be sold in most contexts are religious in nature (Christmas Day, Easter Friday, Easter Sunday). The other 0.5 is related to NZ history, and yes, it's literally half a day, or rather just over half (Anzac Day; alcohol can't be sold before 1PM). All 3.5 of these days have an exception for alcohol served together with a meal in a restaurant, and there's also an exception for wineries selling their own product on one of the days, I think it was Easter Sunday.
