AI2 > AI1 by a good amount. Worth noting that it has two protagonists, but I quite like the non-Mizuki one.

Porn mag Date was extremely dumb, but at times it became so dumb that I laughed.

The villain's plan is the worst thing in AI1 IMO. I wasn't into any of the revelations at the end.

Aiba is the best member of AI1's cast by far.

Yeah, I just didn't take any of the scenes with it too seriously. Date being told there was porn in the pond and turning into the Flash was hilarious

Honestly though, Uchikoshi very consistently puts out stuff that's flawed in significant ways, but still manages to be very enjoyable. That's about the best way I can sum up mu thoughts on both AI1 and AI2

Mostly meh on the first game because Date Iris and Ota are all incredibly unlikeable and annoying and Mizuki and Hitomi are the only characters I care about. And the plot was so straightforward (I mean you saw it all coming as soon as the pieces were in place) and Saito is just a bad villain because his character is just that he's an evil sociopath so there's just no interesting motive other than "Murder is fun".

Second game is a big improvement in (almost) every way (including somnium gameplay)

Porno mags are good, actually.

I think AI2 has more indefensible writing problems than 1 BUT everything else is so much better its pretty easy to ignore them.

This would make sense to me since I don't find too many writing problems in this game compared to MSG.

Anyway I had money left on my gift card so I just said fuck it and bought AI2, Trails can wait I guess so if you're a fan of that series blame Mizuki for being adorable.

Somnium Files 2 Mizuki might be my favorite video game character design ever.

Okay well since I bought the second one and am now playing it I will save the rankings of character for after the second game.

Time to see if this game is THREE TIMES as good as the original.

I recall some people struggled with the second question because they played the first game a few years before the second and couldn't recall that detail. So it isn't completely free.

The first question I can see being harder.

There are some answers you can give to those opening questions that would get you different responses, like if you say Moma for the "who was shot in the leg?" question, they'd tell you that it's close but he was shot in the stomach, not the leg. IIRC they'd give you a do-over for that one. You could also answer stuff like "Kagami" or "Kaniza" as I recall.

You get a retry if you say Moma. I never tried Kagami or Kaniza though. Unfortunately, the game doesn't let you set there and fish for joke answers and forces a reload if one wants to try more.

Is the success rate that bad? I got it right without much difficulty. Although, I only recalled that she got shot and not specifically where. If the question was about Moma instead, I wouldn't have gotten it.

I also had to look it up. If you last played th e original years before, its just not something youll remember.

I had to look it up and I played it the day the game came out so looking it up was not trivial. I remember scouring youtube footage trying to find random cutscenes from the first game lol

I had just watched an LP of the original so it was fresh in my mind

I accidentally put Saigo instead of Saito at first. I blame having played most of the Yakuza games in between them.

So Ryuki has a few screws loose apparently, I look forward to trying to understand what the fuck is going on there.

Mizuki's little sister voice was adorable trying to wake Ryuki up just because its so unlike her normal voice which is very sharp lol.

Felt like playing tales of arise.

The skits in this game are so clean.

They're quite nice. Unfortunately, 50% of the game's skits are in the last 10% of the game, for no good reason.
