As someone who thinks FF7 is pretty mid, FF7R is just plain bad

On topic, the pixel remaster of FF3 slaps and made me appreciate the game a lot more

It might be because you have a Geomancer, but I forget if thats actually a feature of the job in this game or not.

I just platinumed FF3 a couple weeks ago, it was a fun time and basically a new experience.

FF7 has a lot going for it, but combat is trivial for most of it. If you can win much of the time by just picking the normal attack over and over, using a more optimal strategy will only make it even more one-sided. I'd guess this was intentional. Square didn't want kids to be unable to see their world-shaking blockbuster through to the ending.

Finally getting off the floating island in ff3. Pretty magical moment. Seeing the world covered in water is freaky

Yeah you can definitely ocassionally meet some random enemy that's way tougher.

The superbosses are also a nice addition for some fun where that you can't just attack normally, in particular the one that punishes amount of materia.

I got stuck on several bosses in ff7 first time through.

Which isn't any different from the other games. Course I was a kid, so the older games are harder, but 7-10 are all about the same easiness.

Damn, just walked into the Crystal Tower and that music goes hard. Steam version may not be as good as the PR, but the music has still been pretty good!

Hopefully you have better luck than I did getting Cockatrice to drop from Helldivers. I only had to fight like 24 Goblins for Goblin. +300 Helldivers. I almost gave up

Just finished Eureka. Love the fact that you get fully healed after bosses, that was definitely a help.

Whole party is level 51, which I thought was fine. Was getting through the encounters and bosses fairly easily, until Scylla dropped Luneth with Flare that did 3400.

I'm playing through the Steam version since it's the one I have currently haha, though I do plan on getting all the Pixel Remasters at some point. Have had this in my backlog for a long while and wanted to finally beat it, as it's one of the last mainline FFs I haven't beaten yet (never played 11, still need to beat 13 and it's sequels/spin-offs, then get a PS5 and FFXVI at some point).

Beat the game.

Characters were at level 56 by the end, jobs were Ninja, Black Belt, Knight, and Devout.

That final dungeon was insanely long, good lord. Beat Cloud of Darkness first try, and man am I happy I did. Killed her right before either she was going to act, or my healer was going to cast Curaja, and no idea which one would have happened. If she went, a particle beam would have potentially wiped the party.

One of the scariest final bosses because of how much is on the line lol

Ninjas and what's the other one Sage? They're insanely broken in the original and any final party should basically just consist of them. They were nerfed in the DS version.
Not sure how they are in pixel remaster.

My knight (Ingus) with Ultima Weapon and Ragnarok was a damage dealing machine. My ninja just threw shurikens that whole last battle.

This is legit though. Arc may have survived another particle beam, though not if she doubled them up. If I wiped, I would have been pretty annoyed. Not sure how long those 2 dungeons took, especially because you have to do everything in the last one, but man it was a while.

This is Garudas first appearance right? FF14 and 16 put her back on the map

I switched everyone to dragoon and pretty much destroyed her instantly

When I first played the game on DS I actually lost to the final form. I threw my DS across the room.

I did save before the point of no return so I didn't have to explore that again but still.

I don't think there's any other valid strategy to Garuda than that one

Not a good one at least. You can fight her legit, but a double lightning will murder the party. Dragoon party is an ensured way of murdering Garuda before it blasts you.

I saw in this great interview that there was originally going to be a save point midway through Crystal Tower, but one of the testers who got too good at the game kept complaining that it was too easy, so they removed it

Im so dumb i kept going back to the town and buying magic keys because i didnt know thief could unlock doors

Also i really gave ff5 praise for the submarine in my last topic, when ff3 was out here doing it first all the way back on famicom

I like how theres some random knight dude behind a random wall in a castle, and when i finally figure out how to get to him, its literally Odin and he decimates me just for talking to him

Trying to fight bahamut, and summon odin, and he casts reflect on my team, which means my heals bounce over to bahamut. Thanks so much for this ff3 lol

It almost screwed my entire fight up. My entire team was dead, with only my dragoon left with like 20 hp, and in the final moment, he jumped and somehow did 9999 to bahamut, winning me the fight

What summons do depend on your job. There's a another one that makes your summons only do the big damage dealing spells they're mostly known for.

Yeah i was proper confused the first time I summoned Ifrit and he used a healing spell on my party instead of Hellfire-ing the enemies. Early Ifrit was wild lol

Titan is not the same entity as the recurring summon Titan, their names being spelled differently in Japanese. In order to prevent confusion, recurring appearances of this Titan are often called Phlegethon in localizations of later releases.
