The fact that people are defending him doesn't surprise me. There are plenty of people who still defend Adolf Hitler, Vladimir Putin, Charles Manson, Christophus Columbus, John A. MacDonald, Bobby Kotick, Jeffrey Epstein, Joseph Stalin, Genghis Khan, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Mother Theresa, Tenzin Gyatso, Fidel Castro, Albert Einstein, etc. In fact, I'm pretty sure most people who are reading this are actually fans of at least one of the names I mentioned. People in general ignore facts in favor of information that confirm their biases. They refuse to admit they were wrong of ever admiring someone who was/is actually a criminal.

Edit: nope I googled and he was given American citizenship to avoid the nazis. So I'm not sure. My ignorant guess was 100% wrong.

The closest I could find was something that said he was a womanizer. And while I dont condone it, I dont think its quite as bad as genocide.

Einstein obviously wasn't as evil as Stalin, or at the very least wasn't in a position to do as much damage as him. The list isn't supposed to include equally evil people, but people who are/were evil but are still widely defended by many, some moreso than others. Anyway, Einstein was a narcissist, a misogynist, a wife beater, and a plagiarist. He stole his first wife's theory of relativism, wrongly claiming fame and a Nobel Prize. When it comes to famous plagiarists, Thomas Edison is even worse than him, but as far as I know he wasn't an angry wife beater who tried to control others. Thomas Edison was a patent thief and an unscrupulous businessman, which is what made him famous because he was really good at it.
