also with the recent delisting of soul calibur 5 i feel like i should mention other fite games which may disappear in case anyone wants to take note

mortal kombat 10 and 11 (and 12). 9s already delisted and these also have guests. 10s kinda old so it could go within the next few years
tekken 7. akuma on the base roster and guests in the dlc
dead or alive 6 has guest characters kula and mai. mai was in 5 and was delisted relatively quick i think
samurai shodown. several guests but its still somewhat new so it may last. its been going on heavy discount though
soul calibur 6. guest in the main roster guests in the dlc
fighting ex layer has terry bogard as dlc but is separate from the base game so its just him
kof all star heroines or whatever has skullomania as a guest in the same way terry is. i think hes included in the deluxe version though
power rangers bftg has ryu and chunli as guests but im not sure if theyre separate or not

and i think thats it

I gotta figure out what Square game I want to buy. Octopath II, Harvestella, Intergrade, DQ Builders 2, maybe even XV...

Octopath 2 rules. I'd recommend that one.

Steam Deck is on sale, 10%, 15%, 20% depending upon the model. Plus the dock is on sale too.

Not seeing many games on my wishlist at price points that make me jump on them, unfortunately. Maybe next sale.

Given my backlog, I really shouldn't be buying more games. But Trails in the Sky always tempts me... and there are others I'm seeing that...

...I really shouldn't. I should power through another ten games before buying any more. I doubt anything I'd want will be delisted.

Had some money left on a work credit card so picked up Dark Souls 2 SOTFS coz it hasn't be on sale in ages, and troubleshooter: abandoned children coz I heard it was a good fire emblem clone.
Picked up pathfinder kingmaker for cheap like a week ago as well so should do me for a while.

I haven't finished OT2 yet, but my opinion would be to just start with 2, especially if you only intend to play one of them or are not sure if you wanna do both. If you like it enough, you could always play the original afterwards - the original is pretty good on its own merits too.

I got Unpacking for $12 and Stick Fight for $2. Probably not gonna grab anything else.

Octopath 2 is an improvement over 1.. But I feel like the level of improvement is drastically overblown by most people.

Just go with OT2. OT1 is too hit and miss, I feel.

Octopath 1 is a pretty neat but heavily flawed game

Octopath 2 is a legit great JRPG

I feel like I'm playing virtually the same game, just with some notable but not gamechanging improvements dotted around.

ended up getting Cassette Beasts, DBFZ Fighterz Edition, small indie fite game Combo Babies, dead on arrival fite game Phantom Breaker Omnia, Star Ocean 4 because i wanted a mindless grind fest, 2 more SF4 costume packs, and Dead or Alive 5 dlc character Naotora Li. i also got Kula and Mai for DoA6 in the koei tecmo sale that happened before the summer sale and the sf6 battle pass

Resisting purchases for now, but I might not be able to last til the end.

And I'm getting a Steam Deck.

So what's the general feelings on the Steam Deck? How hard is to use mods on Steam games on it? It's what I really like about doing PC gaming lately.

I ended up buying one. I had been interested in one for a while and 20% off was worth the plunge.

I love my Steam Deck. I mostly just use it as a desktop gaming PC though.

havent tried to mod stuff, but I have successfully installed a few non-steam games using workarounds I found online. Whatever you want to do is probably doable without too much trouble.

Steam Deck is pretty easy to get mods up on, or whatever else you might want to do with it. Worth pointing out that it's also the best portable emulation device ever created, and you can even get/use the dock for easy emulation on your TV!

I got the dock and lil bluetooth keyboard and it became an FFXIV machine

I've been playing Rune Factory 4 Special on Game Pass all week with my Steam Deck, it's been great.

Yeah I play FFVIIR with a ton of mods on it so getting to play it handheld with the same mods was kinda important.

base Granblue Vs is like 2$ and i heartell has a not awful single player
not sure how good Dragon Ball Fighterz is but its 9$ for base and 15$ with s1
Soul Calibur 6 has a single player mode that a lot of people who arent me seemed to like
Nitro+ Blasterz has a story mode that i skipped though so cant say how good it is. probably not very if i was guessing
Persona 4 Arena has a story mode. the original was fine but the Ultimax continuation was kinda bad
cant remember if Under Night had a story mode

persona 4 arena good single player, though if you havent played persona 3/4 maybe not

3d fighter but neo aquarium is less than $2

so is magical battle festa actually

wanba warriors (physics-based 2d fighter) is also barely over $2 (before dlc roster), though that doesn't have story it is fun

fitegame shmup hybrid acceleration of suguri 1's definitive release (x edition) is also below $2.50 (should note that it's a spinoff to the experimental shmup suguri though. can get both in a bundle for $4)
(also the second aos game is $4.50, though that's also a sequel to suguri's sequel called sora... which is also $4.50 and not bundled with it)

oh notably yeah as mentioned gbf versus is only $2. so is samsho v special and kof 97

vanguard princess is only $1.50 before dlc though i wouldn't really say it's that good in the first place

as usual most classic guilty gear games are very cheap though i feel you probably have them anyway

chaos code is about $4, blade strangers is $5 and i guess i'll draw the line at the $5 mark because sure

Have any of y'all played Symphony of War? I usually assume these RPG Maker-looking games are gonna be trash, but I got it on sale last week and it's pretty fun. It's kinda like Fire Emblem, except the main cast get to lead their own squads, which you get to customize by adding other units (3-4 per squad to start, maxing out at 9 in a squad at endgame, it looks like).

Some of the Steam reviews are like, "the gameplay is fun, but there's a lot of text, and you can just skip it," which is crazy to me. It's not like the plot is groundbreaking, but it's got some twists and turns that I didn't expect. I'm really enjoying it!

Bought it day 1 because I've been waiting like 30 years for someone to make another Ogre Battle. (Even OB64 wasn't really OB, but it was the closest we had.) SoW isn't, either, but it at least has some overlap.

I wish this game was better, but it is very janky (was built in a very old fighting game engine with poor controller support, the Linux "port" is just a WINE wrapper and has all the DLC characters automatically since I'm not sure they knew how to program it in)

not to mention that eigoMANGA is a pretty suspicious publisher and no one has heard anything from Tomoaki Sugeno (the original dev) for several years now
