Someone has trouble paying their bills, therefore we should make it more difficult for them to get a decent paying job.

Then higher education needs to be something more readily accessible to people of varying income levels so that schooling can be accomplished on one's own earnings.

You severely overestimate the government's ability to put together and be custodian of a database like that where it would be accurate. They screw up just keeping your name and social security number together

Or the student could take 12 credit hours per semester while working full time to put themselves through college like I did. Sure, it took 5 years, but I got it done while bartending and paid off my ~$30k student loans within 5 years.

Again, comes down to grit. And maybe some delayed gratification.

Look, I'm just trying to present a solution here both sides could work with. The left wants the forgiveness - done. The right wants accountability - done.

What about the fact that creating and operating this entire new government service is probably going to cost as much as a lot of proposed forgiveness plans that are actually about forgiveness? What about the disabled or those that also have to work to take care of a family?

Not to mention the whole idea of taking someone's degree away from them for not having money is just cruel and unusual.

(Along with all the other economic changes, challenges, and issues this solution runs into that make it sound like you thought none of this out at all honestly)

Like wtf, how ignorant, selfish and morally repugnant do you have to be to not just dismiss this idea?

Let me ask something to everyone: do you actually take the time to see if what the TC is saying is actually viable, even if somewhat controversial? Or can you tell right away when an idea is completely ass-backwards and trying to dissect it is a waste of time because it's easy to know when there's no good way to view it?

Nobody can give a legit answer to why someone who took out an obligation should get to default on that obligation with no strings attached. Lots of attacks, no real debate.

I'm so glad I believe in personal accountability. Lots of hatred and hostility here due to an idea to give the handout but with an ounce of accountability.
