My first job out of college, the company paid for moving expenses, so I just used the company they had..I had very little though, so it was an easy move. Hardest part was just setting up the apartment for when I moved out there. I only had to stay in a hotel for a week.

Other moves have been harder just because I end up having actual stuff to move, but same principal. Company paid for movers and I just had to get housing situated to match with when the items would be delivered and when my car would be dropped off.

Depending on distance travel time for movers can be like 1-2 weeks and sometimes the company has paid for the stuff to be in storage for up to like a month

I've done moves from Texas to Colorado to Arizona

I moved from the Midwest across the country, with dogs and cats. Had one big uhaul. And just had friends and family drive cars there. Dont take anything you can replace like furniture. We just ended up buying new stuff

Moved a few states away, pretty much started all brand new. Had my clothes and little things, goodwill was a huge help starting off.

If you have furniture you absolutely have to bring with you then, considering distance, Id think about renting a uhaul and just driving everything. If you hire a company make sure you look at a bunch of reviews and make sure theyre good. You dont wanna show up 2 weeks before them, or have half your stuff ruined.

I work for a moving company. This is the best way. Do everything you can by yourself or with your family. Rent a truck and hire a company to unload on the other end. Or if you wanna get wacky you can try to sell all your furniture and buy new stuff when you get there.

Calculate the cost of the furniture you have and see if buying new stuff is cheaper than the cost of a U-Haul or moving company. Keep in mind you can make some money selling your old furniture on FB Marketplace or eBay.

As another poster said, sometimes companies have relocation incentives where they will pay for a mover and a hotel room for you while you look for a place to live. That's ideal.

I moved across the country. Didn't keep most of my stuff. Basically just a few sentimental things, clothes, and some books. Easier and cheaper to just buy new furniture after the move.

Oh do you mean unloading? Yeah that's usually been part of the overall service.

If I was moving and was the one paying for it though, I'd just be very minimal about all of it.

My granddaughter and her husband moved to another state and they had a lot of stuff, including a grand piano. they got a large U-Haul that her brother drove but had a company come and load it for them. Then when they got to the new place they had a moving company come and unload it. They also moved two vehicles and two dogs. Was a long couple of days and included her brother flying back home.

honestly guys like my fam says, my bed and everything I have here costed me less than 2k

having someone do it all for me would easily prolly cost more than that or double and if thats the case, then it makes sense for me to just buy brand new furniture right?

I can provide my own tvs and picnic table which has my PC

Ive moved across the country twice. First time I downsized and rented a trailer. Second time I hired a service and truck. Cost difference was like $1000 vs $5000 but the convenience was worth it.

Yeah this is the 10th state i've lived in, my furthest move was Philadelphia to Atlanta. I packed it all, rented a uhaul, and drove it myself with some family, didn't hire anyone.

I moved coast to coast years ago. Put all my stuff in my car and a trailer I rented from U-Haul. Just bought furniture when I got here. Biggest thing I brought with was my bed, but that fit in the trailer.

If you can, try to clean out as much shit that you can so you don't have to move it. I moved three years ago and man I had them move so much shit that I didn't even really need.

At those prices you aren't saving anything other than time by simply buying when you get there. You also save the aggravation and anxiety of your stuff potentially getting broken in transit or stolen by the moving company (happens more often than you think).

Depending on how much its going to cost to move furniture just leave or sell your old stuff and take the money you wouldve spent moving on new furniture. Thats what Ive done for most of my out of state moves, over 90% of my stuff is boxes and only bring furniture if its still in good shape or too expensive to replace.
