I cant remember when I bought a physical copy of a game but it feels weird to get a console with no disc. Also I dont remember can it play discs from PS4??

It can play PS4 discs.

I primarily buy digital these days but still went for the disc version PS5 anyways.

Yes, it can read and play PS4 games. If you have even a small collection of PS4 games, I'd say get the disc version.

I rarely buy physical anymore either, but sometimes the physical is cheaper than the digital. I like having options.

I've went fully digital for this generation, but I still bought the disc edition to play PS4 games. Worth it for that IMO.

If you buy discless you are at the whim of Sony's monopoly which always sets the price the highest available on new releases whereas vendors of physical copies compete with each and you will often be able ot find the game significantly cheaper in the release window. I remember buying the Mass Effect remaster trilogy for 399 DKK on release day while Sony sold it for 579 DKK on their online store.

In time digital copies tend to have larger sales, but having a physical version of course doesn't prevent you from taking part in those as well as future physical ones.

Also yes it plays PS4 games.

Disc for sure. More functionality is always better, because maybe you'll find a bargain bin for like $20 when the digital sale is $45 on sale.

Disc. Why would you want to buy half a console?

The one with a disc drive can play used games, games that have been delisted, and 4K Blu-rays, so it's way better than the digital only one. Consoles that can't play physical games are worthless.

Also, no matter which version you get do yourself a favor and get a 1 or 2TB SSD extension. There's a port inside the console for easy installation, and you'll be glad for expanding your HD space by 2 or 4 times.

Just make sure to look up how tos on YT so you get the right kind of drive (some are harder to install than others).

I bought disc just so I'd have the option to use both even though I primarily use digital.

I'd go for disc. I prefer digital, but went with disc for convenience of wanting to choose either format.

doesn't the ps5 have it's own specialised ssd? wouldn't any other third party one be slower?

I haven't bought a physical game in roughly 5 years but even I opted for the disc version because it's nice to have the option (as well as a 4K blue ray player).

I got the physical PS5 even though I purchase 100% digital. Sometimes my friend lets me borrow games that i otherwise wouldn't have purchased, so it's nice having the option.

It just needs to be a Gen 4 M.2 NVMe SSD with recommended read speeds of 5500MB/s or faster.

Well I have PS5 now, time to dl the FF16 demo.

Lmao I thought I had PS4 discs but I only had PS3 discs. Still feels better to buy the standard one.

Look forward to enjoying the game that looks amazing so far.

If you're the kind of guy like me who likes to collect and display the boxes from purchased games, then the disc is a better option for ya anyway. Have fun, and don't forget that SSD.

I bought a gammix s70 blade internal SSD expansion and its actually slightly faster than the PS5's built-in SSD.

It's more that it was really cutting edge at the time PS5 came out, but is more or less standard now.
