I dont like him, to be clear, but he was in a position where he couldve made a big impact on the election. I think tripling down on the anti-woke stuff has backfired.

I was one of those people worried that he would win 2024 and do horrendous shit because he wouldn't be constantly shooting himself in the foot like Donnie was.... then I don't remember what it was, but saw him doing some sort of live event (could have been the old debates) and was immediately like "oh yeah, no, no one but Florida has to worry about this fucking dork." and then he decided to get bent over a barrel by Disney.

I don't understand how anyone would vote for a man who laughs like this to ANY position of power.

No it's not dishonest I just don't think you know what dehumanization means.

The good news is DeSantis is tanking. The bad news is this means that Trump is still going to run in 2024. I know DeSantis is an objectively worse human being, but I'd rather be facing him than Trump.

That's not what dehumanization is. Dehumanization is the act of treating a human or group of humans as sub-human, animals, or inanimate property. Dehumanization is the first step towards preparing a population to commit genocide. If you can convince someone that a group is literally the same as vermin, that group will be exterminated as vermin.

DeSantis is guilty of it, but that photo isn't dehumanizing him or anyone else. It's just a photo of him dressed up as a 1 dimensional Disney villain.

It is reducing women and/or queer people to being a tool to mock him. It is not done out of solidarity with us. It is not to show we are safe with them. It is showing that we are just a joke to make cheap laughs at political opponents with.

Goes much deeper than that. He's been flailing around with his oppressive, exclusionary, hurtful policies for a while, and every time he seems to go out in public he makes an embarrassing gaffe.

He's been drawing attention for a long time, but it's the kind he didn't want. He got too into his own head that he is the "BIG STORNG RULER OF FLORIDA", and now everyone not in Florida is going "lol, look at this dumbass".

Tbh I've never seen this guy as any sort of face for the republican party anyway, only time I ever hear of the guy is when he's saying something stupid or saying "something something woke" and those are usually the same thing.

Nothing hurts a fascist more than being perceived as not manly. False bravado and hyper masculinity are hallmarks of fascism.

So portraying DeSantis as not manly may seem bad, but it's important part of fascism.

I don't follow Florida politics, so I haven't seen much of him. I just can't imagine him onstage debating with another person though. He seems very tightly scripted. The back and forth of a debate seems like it would wear him down.

We'll see.
