Imagine your favorite RPG, but this time you're a mermaid fighting Abyssal Evil. Sounds cool, right? Has it been done before? No, not even close, and we're here to change that.

The gaming world is long overdue for its first mermaid dark-fantasy, and Loreseeker Games is excited to bring it to life! This open-ocean RPG will put gamers in the fins of a playable mer-person with robust customization options. As you explore the ocean depths, youll uncover the forgotten history of Mer civilization and face off against an ancient evil lurking in the abyss. The combat system will feature ranged abilities, melee attacks, hydro-kinesis, and evades, all in a third-person perspective.

Vibe: Ancient sea gods. A sealed Abyss, broken open by the wreck of a sinking ship. Sunlit waters threatened by the rising darkness, and rumors of an imprisoned Siren whos voice may be the only thing that can stop it. Whale-song, ambient neon synth-wave, and Lovecraftian drone-metal.

The shallow reefs are designed to be a relaxing experience, but the deeper you go, the darker things become, both visually AND thematically.

Whether you're a gaming veteran, or stepping into RPGs for the first time, we invite you to take a deep breath and prepare to dive into a brand new world. There is something here for you!

LORESEEKER GAMES:
We are a brand new (unfunded) team of indie devs with one very specific goal: to create immersive, lore-rich RPGs that are an adventure for the Player, not just the in-game Character. We have a strong artistic vision and some insanely cool lore that is begging for a new IP. We are currently working on SIREN for free, as an after-hours passion project, but we need funding to take it further.

My name is David Johnson and I'm the creative director for SIREN.

Just to keep things honest: Our team is very small (for now)! There are five of us, and not everyone has had experience in the game industry prior to this project. I myself am kind of a generalist, but my background is in mod-making and map-creation. This is my first time bringing a team together to create a new IP.

So yes, our team is fresh and untested, and many people will expect us to fail, but I think that the work we've done thus far can speak for itself, and the strength of our concept will carry this project to the finish line. This game MUST be made, and no one else is doing it, so we will find the funding and make it happen.

We are well-aware that our vision of creating open-world RPGs vastly exceeds what indie startups are typically capable of, but by leveraging the power of modern game-design software, in addition to the constant advancements in motion-capture and animation tools, we are able to do work that was once only possible in AAA game houses. Our vision is attainable!

This is going to become more and more common as people pick sides in the AI debate.

That said, looks like an ordinary game. Not really that interested myself, but it's bound to find an audience.

Edit: watching more of the trailer, I can confidently day I'm getting tired of the "ancient technology is actually future technology" aesthetic that we've seen more and more of over the years.

I'm wary of Patreon games because of how Patreon works, it incentivizes never actually finishing your projects to keep the money rolling in.

I tried playing Aquaria many years ago, but couldn't really get a hang of it.

The only group dedicated enough to make a mermaid game would be Australians. If the company is based anywhere else then there's a zero percent chance of a game actually being made.

Cool concept, but this game almost certainly won't get made and if it does it probably won't be good. Seasoned game developers struggle to make good crowd-funded games. The completely inexperienced...the odds are overwhelmingly against them.
