When the manga is exploring Fighter D and the nature of his humanity or the lack thereof it's a really solid story. When it's instead trying to do actual tokusatsu stories but grittier and edgier it can turn into a slog.

I also really like watching D fight because he's so weak he needs to be really scrappy. Most of the other fights are just big laser vs giant rock type shit.
