Right, and that was also part of my point. It may not be Leviticus specifically, however the OT specifically says the fetus does not supersede the rights of the mother and actually gives instructions on how to perform abortions, yet these people say their "religious beliefs" tell them they have to oppose abortion. Not sure where these religious beliefs come from, but it's sure not the Bible (just kidding, I know exactly where they come from).

No, the Bible does not condemn abortion. The Old Testament endorses it and the New Testament does not expand upon nor condemn it.

It's a prime example of how Christian Nationalists don't actually follow the teachings of Christ because what they're actually focused on is religious fascism where their "beliefs" are just fascism using religion as a cover to impose their will on undesirables they wish to eradicate from society.

I wasted my time. I just wanted to post outrage against this dehumanizing act. Condemn it. Learn how LGBT communities are coping under this. Speak in favour of their freedom. Happy to point out that any religious justification for this is a farce.

If they are Christian then the bible says they are supposed to be against it. For everyone else I have no idea. I know atheist that also are homophobic and I'm quite puzzled.

The bible also says not to judge other unless yee be judged. Also pull the plank from your own eye before you pull the splinter from another. Then you have Jesus saying "he who is without sin cast the first stone". Jesus final words to his followers were to love other and each other as they loved him. For me that overrides everything else. it also doesn't say to kill everyone who does.

What do we actually know about the religious affiliations of the 387 MPs in the Ugandan parliament who voted for the bill -- what their denominations or churches are? Without a bit more information on that score, we're not in a position to pin all of the blame on evangelical Christian missionaries. And if we're blaming the bill on colonial-era laws imposed by the British, why have Ugandan homophobes had to wait through 60 years of independence before finally managing to get a bill this harsh onto the statute books?

But that isn't the real question here. The question is, how do you make the Ugandan legislature think twice about the wisdom of passing this bill without punishing the people?

That is a literal and direct call for genocide from the stage of a mainstream political platform.
