r/nba and Lebron cares just copying the thread off Reddit/Twitter where the people that care are posting about this story to bring here. So I get I am going from niche place to a general board where people feel the need to bring attention that they dont care about the niche story or person. Though embarrassing and completely shameful, I don't see how this is incriminating unless what the ref is doing breaks some moral ethics contract.

I think it is cause Gamefaqs is one of the few sites left where your individual opinion can get heard. You say something like that on Reddit or places that have a like system a post like that go directly to bottom and get ignored. While the people that care discuss the story.

It's strange that a current NBA ref goes on twitter and so often makes fun of Lakers fans and defends the Celtics, or calls that were made specifically for that team.

It is because they would never say that stuff on their main accounts. Imagine a politician said racist or transphobic stuff on an alt account. Do you then go who cares everyone has alts. And try to derail discussion? Or go they should be held accountable for the stuff they said on their alt after being outed.

You're changing the parameters of what happened to try to make this seem worse. But he didn't say anything like that. When politicians do have alt accounts that they use to defend themselves, when they are outted we just laugh at them. It happens. It's not a big deal. They get clowned at that that.

It's no worse than KD being caught with burners and I don't remember any NBA investigation over that.

Players aren't held to the same standards as refs it seems, especially not KD since he is KD and will get special treatment. There's already great public scrutiny against the NBA refs and the need for them to show a high level of integrity is much needed. I don't blame the NBA at all for this investigation.

Apparently they don't allow basketball referees to gamble on sports at all. Basketball games makes sense but not a full ban.

That isnt the same. Refs are often thought to be the difference maker in a game if they give one side more fouls than the other. Especially if it is to take out one teams best player. So a ref coming off as biased toward a team isnt a good look.

i.e. a basketball ref is going to know many football/baseball refs.

jfc i can't accept an apple from a client unless i eat it in front of them or im in breach of ethics. i think the refs will live without sports betting the same way doctors live without selling cigarettes.
