Texans are always my worst customers. Every time I hear sass or back talk or some snarky unnecessarily rude comment I look at the address oh hey it's Texas again, surprise surprise. I've never been there though. Been to 33 states but not Texas.

Worst state I've ever been to, probably Iowa. There's just nothing there.

honestly, it's probably the heat... all of America is just too hot, except Alaska I guess, and possibly the Northeast

Definitely Kansas. All flat and nothing there worth mentioning, which I know since I lived there for two years.

But the area I'm least interested in visiting is the southwest quadrant of the US - too hot and dry for my tastes.

Highest taxes.
Highest housing prices.
Highest illiteracy rate.
Most stupid laws and regulations.
Crime through the roof.
Atrocious land and resource management.
. . . and the list goes on.

Texas, Florida, Alabama, Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee, Mississippi, take your pick.

It's a competition between states like Texas and Florida, with god-awful politics that make the places unlivable, or empty/dead states like Wyoming.

Probably like Alabama or something. Florida at least has their theme parks, and Texas has pockets of good like Austin.

Arkasas. It's the most "where?" state and the "driest" state. Much of the state is made up of dry counties where you cannot purchase alcohol.

Only by absolute #, but even per population, it is indeed among the top 3. That said, it's also a very proactive state when it comes to address the issue.

Depends on what you mean. Their income and sales tax tends to be high, while property tax is quite low, and they are about average in excise taxes. As an aggregate, likely top 5, which is pretty much not unexpected for the richest/biggest state.

Hawaii is actually number 1, but CA seems to be #2. Again, makes sense, given it's a state everyone wants to live in with a massive population. Your milage will vary, of course: housing prices in SF and LA don't come close to resembling cheaper prices away from the coast. Income to house prices is a better aggregate to use.

Statistics are all over the place with this, but no, California is not the top on this - most South states and NM are far worse. Interesting, most studies show all Mexican border states rank low, which is of little surprise - on the question of English literacy, all states with high Latino immigrant populations fare poorly, and CA has the largest population of such by far. So, moot point anyways.

False. Be it violent, property, of a mix of the 2, CA is average when it comes to that. Especially with violent crime. "crime through the roof" states are almost entirely all Red states.

This is also true. But hey, at least the politics represents the state. That's not even clear in TX or FL.
