You get the super useful Autobuild ability there, farm Zonai stones, and find cool gear.

I mean there is stuff down there. Some very useful stuff.

They're not all that dangerous as they seem. Encounters are few and far between, much like on the surface, and the gloom is incredibly obvious even in the dark.

Yeah I meant if theres anything actually useful and worth exploring for. Ive only been down there once but Ill have to again for Joshas quest.

There's a very important reward in the depths

As someone who played BOTW on the WiiU when it came out and stopped right outside of beating the final boss I am enjoying this game. I honestly didn't even want it all that much except I left work early Friday and wanted something to do and the next thing I knew it was Monday and time to go to work again.

My biggest complaints are for some reason I keep pushing up on the D-Pad to try to see my abilities and it keeps bringing up the menu of items.

Something needs to be done about the D-Pad up menu. Make it a favorites menu where only the selected items I picked show up there. I don't need Hylian tomatoes on it but I do need bombs and the brightstone seeds to be quickly accessible and next to each other.

Otherwise I'm having fun. I did have another complaint about the mini-map and it being impossible to tell which direction is N because the direction indicator is so small. But I found a setting that let me lock N as the top.

Yes, scrolling through a long fucking line of items just to find something is maddening. Even most used doesnt help

I've been to the depths once. It's pretty, but does the whole map kind of look like this, and impossible to get your bearings without looking at the map? It's just mind boggling that this place is Hyrule-sized.

You know what? I'm just gonna say it. I fucking hate the shrines that take all your stuff away.

Yeah Id say the item shortcut menu needs at least 2 rows. One for everything and one for assigned favorites. If not an assignable favorites then at least a few rows. Like utility, elemental, and damage. Something like that.

Do you want the ability to recreate any zonai creation you've made in an instant? Go south from the first chasm they had you venture down until you find a forge

This also leads into a big sidequest

The last power/ability

Getting it and going back to Lookout landing also triggers Robbie to go to hateno which then allows you to get the sensor, travel medallion, and hero path upgrades for the purah pad

Okay, so if you've been missing Cryonis, there's a pretty easy solution. Toss an Ice Fruit into water and it'll create an ice platform. I think White Chuchu Jelly also works. Once done, fuse that ice platform with a spear. Now you can create ice platforms along the water by attacking just above the water.

You can also do this with Opals or Water Fruits on lava, cooling off bits of the lava to be able to walk on it.

The Depths are great. The sense of danger and confusion are really good. It does appear to be exploring for the sake of exploring, though. Using glow seed arrows is a good way to see where you're going.

Make a car and put a glow seed on the front. Unless you hit rough terrain it will trivialize the whole darkness thing.

There's also a shirt in the Rito area (the cave where there are two women outside looking for mushrooms lol) that adds ice damage to your attacks. I haven't tried it on water yet but I'm guessing that would freeze it as well and won't be consumable?

So how do you drive stuff? Is that another device you eventually get access to?

There's a control item that's basically a joystick to steer wings and other flying platforms. I haven't tried it on vehicles, though.

So I've got 7 hearts and 2 1/5 stamina circles. I've also got 4 sage's will items, but I'm not sure where I want to get the first boost from those.

Probably gonna actually continue the story tonight.

It'd be overwhelming if it wasn't all so fucking interesting and honestly fairly simple

Also combat is just so greatly improved, both a lot more enemy and weapon variety, and a LOT more of your items feeling usable for combat like a real Zelda game.

Also, way more chaos.

Exactly XD excuse me while I shield surf on a block of ice

I was going around activating towers and dragon tears and ended up doing the Gerudo quest. So I guess Ill finish that and then continue with my plan. Maybe the depths too. At some point I need to go to Eldin and get the fairy fountains going.

Exploring this game is unparalleled but loot seems to be just sooo bad. Traveled to the top of a snowy mountain, see a lizard flying around carrying a treasure chest. Finally a use for my homing arrows. What's in the chest? Five arrows.

Yeaaaaah I try to remind myself its a journey game, not a destination game. Hopefully unique armor and stuff is slightly more prolific than BotW.

Amiibo armor has been turned into stuff you can just find so there is definitely a lot more armor than in BotW.

The loot situation early game is so strange to me. You're so poor and weak at the beginning that there are *so* many things that would be useful. Money, armor, zonai parts, some kind of more permanent damage upgrade, etc. Why are treasure chests giving out elixirs you could easily craft yourself and arrows?

Anytime you see a big wooden box, just use Ultrahand to lift them up into the air then deactivate it. They usually drop about 2-3 arrows, sometimes with a 5 stack included, and doing it that way saves you from having to use up durability on your weapons.

Just did the Royal Hidden Passage. O_o. My God that was a long cave. Got a whole new armor set though.

That's one of the reasons I started going 100% digital with games. I got tired of dealing with late deliveries.

Way too many of the shrines are specific combat tutorials

just came across one where all you do is throw a fire fruit at an enemy. Already found a few more like that and Ive only done a couple dozen. What a waste

There aren't that many like that. They're all in areas that you're going to run into most likely at and beginning of the game.

40 this time.

Though even with the increased shrine count...you still can't get full hearts and stamina at the same time.

Did two of the dungeons so far. I think I'm gonna finish the rest of the dungeons and unlock memories, but I don't feel like completing all the shrines and stuff this time around. With BOTW it was new but now it feels like retreading, especially since it's the same map.

even still, they feel like a pretty missed opportunity being so basic

the fire fruit one just has you toss a fruit at an enemy in the center of the room, then toss a fruit at it while its moving.

surely they could have come up with a more exciting way to teach this mechanic?

The well up by Hatano Village was pretty good. Some connecting chambers, some stone barriers, and some wooden barriers. I went in another well that was just a single room with a few low quality items.
